New CARIBBEAN Restaurant in town

Just heard from a friend that there is a new CARIBBEAN restaurant in town. Located near Toyota towers/Airport signal, it's in the same place that Fasika (Ethiopian restaurant) used to be.
IF YOU ARE COMING FROM THE RAMADA HOTEL COME DOWN
TO THE TOYOTA STOPLIGHT MAKE A U-TURN THEN MAKE SECOND RIGHT A LOOK FOR THE NAME "CARIBBEAN CUISINE AND PASTRIES" ON YOUR LEFT HAND SIDE
OPENING HOURS FROM:
10:30AM
10:30PM
Looks like they have curried goat, jerk chicken, red beans and rice, soups galore...YUM!
Haven't been yet but hope to try it out soon!

It aint tha bad! i loved it , Jus with the waitress, she itself is confused what's there in the menu!
But try out the Hot Pot Chicken!
Another colleague of mine went there after I did, and she loved the place! LOL!
So maybe it's just me who thought it was so-so fare. Give it a whirl and see what you think!

Thanks for the correction.Definitely Carribean food without the music & rum is incomplete.
ummjake, thank you for the review. My husband got the flyer from somewhere , we were thinking to try it out sometimes next week. But maybe not now ...
yes, carribien party would b fun. i have some reggae, soka, rubadub, raggaeton... That reminds me, there is a raggae band called "Bedouin Soundclash" I just started listening to. I don't know what thier affiliation is with the MEbut with the name and the fact that they mention the region I am curious. Good music tho

Ambat, Rap is not Carribean music! Reggae is!
Anyone know if they deliver? I was thinkig of a Carribean themed party over the summer.
thats dissappointing... I used to live with a caribien guy and he left me some spices but I still trying to perfect my puerto rican rice and beans. Have not had jerk chicken in a long time =(

Okay -- I tried it out last weekend, and have to say I was underwhelmed.
First off, I don't think they changed anything about the decor of the place. It used to be an Ethiopian restaurant. There's the same Ethiopian artwork on the walls, the tables and chairs are the same as before...in short, there is nothing about the inside of the place to indicate that it is a Jamaican/Caribbean restaurant. Hell, they were playing Shania Twain music when I was there. Would it kill them to throw on a CD of Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff or some steel drum music at least?
The wait staff was ONE Filipina woman who didn't seem to know much about the menu/wasn't able to answer questions about specific items.
We ordered a variety of dishes, just to try stuff out: jerk chicken, black beans and rice, fried plantains, etc. A word of warning: dumplings are basically tasteless fried bread. Don't know why they call them dumplings, because they're not.
Black beans and rice was actually red beans and (basmati) rice. And it wasn't so tasty. I make better at home myself.
Jerk chicken was so-so -- the spice/heat was in the dipping sauce (not the chicken itself), and it was okay. But overall I was disappointed in the food and the whole experience there, and won't be going back.

From wikipedia:
"Jerk is a style of cooking native to Jamaica in which meats are dry-rubbed with a very hot spice mixture called Jamaican jerk spice. Jerk seasoning is traditionally applied to pork and goat. Modern recipes also apply Jerk spice mixes to chicken, fish, beef, sausage, and tofu. Jerk seasoning principally relies upon two items: allspice (Jamaican pimento) and Scotch bonnet peppers (among the hottest peppers on the Scoville scale). Other ingredients include cloves, cinnamon, scallions, nutmeg, thyme, garlic."
