Gardening in Qatar?

Hello,

This may sound strange but is gardening in Qatar possible? Or is the climate too hot? I love to garden. I have some tomatoes, peppers and herbs right now in pots in my terrace. Wondering if I could possibly grow anything in pots there? Thanks

I have a small garden and I m growing mustard leaves(we use it as a vegetables)corainder, mint, tomatoes, cauliflower, brinjal, tomatoes and green chillies and oregano..

Roses and marigolds are also blooming. There is a huge nursery in Wakra after Qtel round about on the left hand if u go from Doha. And lot many nurseries in Abu Hamour side.

I can bet u will get lot many seeds and small plants for peanuts prices and u can grow a lot if u have passion for gardening.Water ur plants 3 times a week now a days and in Summers once in two days. That's it.

keep doing it gardening is such a fun.. :)

Yes possible, ideal planting season is between September and April, when the climate is not too hot, As Nomerci above mentioned during the hot season you may need to keep the some of the sensitive plants in the shade.

Yes, it is possible. But it is a hit and miss thing. right now it is easy, as it is not so hot, later on you need to water twice a day and need to keep your plants in the shade.

The plants you see around Doha are obviously those you may be able to keep alive here.

Also, the soil here is extremely poor, you need to fertilize accordingly.
