Corniche...soooo dirty today!

Dracula
By Dracula

Yes! In Corniche, there is litter and plastic bags in the water.

Although "Sheraton/iPark" is a beautiful and fun place, it could be even better if it was cleaner.
Now, Corniche is so dirty and pebbly that it's horrible to even look at!
.
Corniche it's an wonderful place!
But when rubbish is everywhere , it spoils the fun of going there.

Also kids can get hurt!

I saw many many fellow Arabs, and some Asians do so as well...

Not trying to defend Qataris, but it is unfair to blame them for all this mess.

and ...not wanting to go out of the topic... but Dracula... your blood spot is very disturbing... veryyyyy disturbing... I am very sensitive to blood sight and seeing splashes of blood everywhere on my screen isn't really the way I want to start my day .. Could you please change it? if not... can the moderator do something about it?

see the worst :(

So sad how would some people be sitting near the water, the garbage is just on the opposite side and they will prefer to throw these in the water instead.

Moving from your place to throw the garbage and going back will not bother you if you find it difficult for more than a minute.

Do not dwell in the past, do not dream of the future, concentrate the mind on the present moment. (Gautama Buddha)

because the Qataris are major contributors and I don't think cops will give a ticket to a Qatari. I'm sure that it's not just the locals, but I have seen Qataris just drop trash on the road from their car. If they want to live in a garbage dump then so be it.

that is not only on Corniche,is everywhere...and is not the wind carrying all the trash out of bins;-)

I changed some months ago Corniche with Rumailah Family Park (eg plenty of and better toilets there)...BUT,a permanent observation: I wouldn't imagine that although being a family park, ppl's picnic behaviour could be such a bad example for kids' education..unbelievable dirty sand, hardly one can find a clean place on grass.

And true, bins are everywhere!!

I have some "bench mates" for now, a family eating seeds on the bench near that slider, both parents spitting them around..spitting.. *sigh*

I don't know if and how to tell them, though;-(

i think you've raise an important point about the army of people sent to clean it up. it shouldn't be the municapilities job to clean up after people (well, they have to...) but any reasonably intelligent person should know that you can't just throw rubbish where ever you want?

it's just so arrogant...

although a litter police would be fun...they can walk around with sticks and cane people if they litter ;-)

"They need to post some cops down there on trash patrol ...

and have them issue fines and court summons to people who litter"

Some people really deserve punishment.

some people just lack discipline, they always expect somebody to clean up after them... :(

By tallg• 16 May 2009 10:10

The thing is, they employ an army of litter-pickers to go down on Saturday and pick it all up. Why not just employ an army of litter-police to ensure it makes it to the bins in the first place?!

By britexpat• 16 May 2009 10:04

The sad thing is that most of these people are "professionals" and well to do - thus shoul know better.

Definitely a need for the Trash police !

It's the same wherever people gather in Qatar. Have you ever been down to the beach next to the Intercon on a Saturday morning? The place is heaving on Friday nights, and the following day all the rubbish from their picnics and bbqs is strewn along the whole beach and in the sea. This is despite the fact that their are bins available.

The singing sand dunes is another place that is covered in rubbish - a place of amazing beauty that is a very rare natural phenomenon - something Qatar should be proud of and protecting.

corniche was always very dirty especially on weekends as loads of tea cups can be seen on sitting area besides sea. Also, they are very dirty coz those teas, spits & God knows what other liquids are also spilled on them.

.

Corniche should be kept cleaner by visitors but sadly it's not done. Qatari guys or families (all nationals) are major contributor in making CORNICHE a dirty place.

.

Anyways, have any one of you (male/female) had an experience in the PUBLIC TOILETS of corniche on weekends especially.ufffffffffff disgusting

I posted similar yesterday.. Its embarrassing.. People go there with food and drinks. There are plenty of bins (trash cans) provided, yet they just throw rubbish wheerever - probably knowing that someone else will clean up after them..
