For the first time ever, Qatar University (QU) students have the opportunity to participate in the Hult Prize competition, as a result of a collaboration between the Centre for Entrepreneurship at QU.

Hult Prize is a global movement changing the world that challenges young people to solve the world's biggest problems. It is also known as the “Student Nobel Prize” and The Hult Prize Foundation is a partner of the UN.

The initiative which started in 2009 by Ahmad El-Ashkar now takes place in over 121 countries. “Our participation is another step forward to place the center in the international entrepreneurship map. We hope by engaging our students in such big international events, we further nurture their entrepreneurial and creative skills”, said Eatidal Al Qatami, the training manager at the center.

This competition gives students a chance to design and compete with their business idea with a chance to win a million dollars, as the final prize. The challenge for this year is “Food for Good”, where the teams have to build feasible food enterprises to impact the lives of 10 million people by 2030.

The organization committee is currently working to have a successful on-campus program, which will take place late this December. Marah Abou-Sido, the current Campus Director stated “I am very glad to be the first step of Hult Prize in Qatar University as the campus director, this is a great opportunity for students to enrich their experiences in their university life. Students from different colleges and levels can take part in this competition. I believe that this is a once in a lifetime experience, and we are waiting for all the students and their energy”.

Currently, registration is open for more competitors from Qatar University. More information on registration can be found on our Instagram @hultprizequ and official website www.hultprizeat.com/qataruniversity.

Taking part in this competition is a chance that should not be missed. It will allow you to gain new expertise and experience. Through the provision of different workshops, the teams have a chance to develop their soft skills, meet new people, and learn how to build a successful business in the process.

Mariam Mustafa, the current Vice Campus Director stated, “This has been an amazing experience so far working with the organization committee and competitors. I have seen my skills develop and would encourage everyone to take part so they can see a positive change in themselves.” The youth is leading a generation to change the world and it is time to take action and be a part of this movement.
