Education and Health Ministers discuss reopening of schools

As Qatar continues to implement its four-phased plan of the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, the remaining stages will see the opening of more facilities and services.
According to the initial plan, Phase 3 will see the reopening of nurseries and childcare facilities, while Phase 4 will mark the beginning of the new academic year in Qatar.
In light of the current COVID-19 situation in Qatar, His Excellency the Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr Mohamed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi and HE the Minister of Public Health Dr Hanan Mohamed Al Kuwari held talks centered on the best back-to-school scenarios.
The meeting was held virtually through video conferencing technology.

"The meeting also touched on the organization of the educational process in full compliance with the precautionary measures and social distancing norms, without affecting the students’ learning and academic achievement," the Ministry of Education and Higher Education stated on its website.
In line with the challenge presented by the pandemic, Qatar's education system was quick to respond to the crisis by moving education online and activating distance learning procedures to ensure education continues without disruption.
The Ministry also ensured all safety measures were in place for students who sat for their final secondary exams in June.
