Education Above All to provide over 300 scholarships for Palestinian youth

Qatar has always maintained its strong support for the brotherly people of Palestine.
In addition to providing monetary aid, rebuilding houses, extending medical support, the country has also actively advocated for the Palestinian cause at various international gatherings.
Earlier this year, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani gave directives to provide a financial grant of $360 million to the residents of the Gaza Strip for the year 2021.
Now, Qatar has signed an agreement to support the education of Palestinian youth.
The Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD), Education Above All Foundation (EAA), through Qatar Scholarship Program, locked a new cooperation deal with Bard College to set up a joint scholarship program at Al-Quds Bard College for the Arts and Sciences (AQB) in Abu Dis, Palestine.
The program will grant scholarships to disadvantaged youth and in-service teachers.

Due to begin in Spring 2021, the new program will provide as many as 339 scholarships over the next eight years.
The program will entail a thorough liberal arts education coupled with student support services and civic engagement opportunities for underprivileged Palestinian youth and in-service teachers.
Students will have the opportunity to join different events including conferences and workshops. They will also be able to work with Qatari educational organizations under the program.
Some of the most talented students will be picked to study abroad in Qatar.
The majority of scholarships will be granted to students in the Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) program at AQB.
The AQB MAT, modeled after Bard College's signature MAT program, offers dual-degrees from Bard College and Al-Quds University.
Undergraduate scholarships include dual-degrees in the natural sciences, social sciences, humanities and practicing arts.
Director of EAA's Al Fakhoora program, Talal Al Hothal commented, "Education is an enabling right that supports all other human rights. At a time of global economic uncertainty, education gives our youth hope to create their own future and work for a better, safer world.”
“We are delighted to partner with the prestigious Al-Quds Bard College for Arts and Sciences to support talented bachelor and graduate degree students from marginalized communities and backgrounds to access quality education, supported by student services and empowered by the skills necessary to become engaged, productive, inspirational citizens who can adapt and excel in their challenging environments,” he added.
