QTA celebrates World Tourism Day with Qatar’s Visitors
Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) shared celebrations on the occasion of World Tourism Day (WTD), held on the 27th of September of every year, with visitors at Hamad International Airport, by handing out 2017 roses at the arrivals terminal.
The celebration was held to mark Qatar’s winning the right to host the official WTD 2017 celebrations.
WTD, the biggest global event in tourism, aims to raise awareness of the cultural, social, political and economic value of the tourism sector.
The global celebrations are held this year under the slogan “One Billion Tourists - One Billion Opportunities,” as international tourist arrivals have grown remarkably.
QTA welcomed visitors and travelers through Qatar with roses grown in Qatar, packaged in boxes carrying the WTD slogan.
This spread the message reminding them that every time they travel they become part of a global movement that has the power to create opportunities and positive social and economic change.
It is decided that in 2017, Qatar will be hosting the official WTD Celebrations under the theme ‘Sustainable Tourism – A Tool for Development.’
This theme shall align with Qatar’s National Tourism Sector Strategy (QNTSS), which aims to foster a sustainable and mature sector that can support the nation’s efforts to diversify its economy and achieve sustainable growth.
The QNTSS 2030 sets several pathways to achieving this growth, including international co-operation, attracting investments, and opening representative offices abroad.
