College of Islamic Studies launches program aimed at coping post-COVID 19
The College of Islamic Studies (CIS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) has launched a new program with the aim of designing a fairer, more inclusive, and sustainable humanity post-COVID.
The six-month program titled ‘Design Post-COVID Humanity: Taaruf, Taawun, Tarahum’ (DPCH-3T) aims to take motivate and inspired youths across the world on an educational journey to unleash their transformative potential.
DPCH-3T will focus on the philosophical, spiritual, and interdisciplinary dimensions of the post-COVID humanity and the key virtues of Taaruf (Acquaintance), Taawun (Cooperation), and Tarahum (Mercifulness).
On November 2, HBKU’s College of Public Policy and Qatar Environment and Energy Research Institute have collaborated to launch the opening ceremony. It saw the participation of organizers, sponsors and partners, and valued dignitaries.
“While the future shape and trajectory of our post-COVID humanity remain uncertain, it is safe to assume that innovative thinking, leadership, and ethics should inform our responses to the new reality. It is imperative that future generations are part of key decision-making processes, including here in the Middle East and North Africa,” said Dr. Evren Tok, Assistant Dean for Innovation and Community Engagement and Associate Professor at CIS.
”Accordingly, a global reset of humanity and society should be defined by inclusive, creative, and ethically-focused problem-solving mindsets that help to build stronger and more inclusive communities. We’re determined to provide participants in this unique and highly-dynamic program with the know-how and skills to make this happen,” he added.
From start to finish, DPCH-3T will be informed by a dynamic mix of talks, networking events, and interactive sessions designed specifically to help put ideas generated into practice.
The participants will be faced with the challenge of overcoming obstacles and collaborating with stakeholders to develop human-centered designs that reflect Taaruf, Taawun, and Tarahum.
Taking place during Ramadan 2021, the 30-day summit will enable participants to share what they have learned and reflect on it.
