In the past three years, Carrefour Qatar has been building and maintaining strong relationships with local producers in Qatar and has taken steps towards contributing to Qatar’s self-sufficiency and food security.
Furthermore, Carrefour encourages local suppliers to develop a new range of products based on customers' demand and provides them with marketing support when needed.
A main player in the market since 1999, Carrefour aims to continue giving back through on-going support of the local market and thereby contributing to the nation’s economic and environmental development, both of which are key pillars of the government’s vision for 2030.
Backing local farmers and suppliers are important to safeguarding the local supply chain. In this regard, Carrefour actively collaborates with 20 local producers and 10 local farms across the country to help support them in growing their businesses and distributing their produce.
In fact, Carrefour Qatar stocks 95 percent of its poultry, 60 percent of its flour, and 95 percent of its pre-packaged bread from local producers and farmers.
Additionally, Carrefour Qatar also promotes sustainability with a large focus on plastic-bag reduction through several initiatives, such as the “No Plastic Day” featured throughout all their stores once a month.
A wide range of vegetables such as zucchini, cucumber, tomato, eggplant, fresh herbs, cauliflower, cabbage, and green beans on offer at Carrefour, are sourced from local farms: Safwa, Khodra, Mazzrati, QT fa, Nabati, QADCO, and Agrico.
Carrefour Qatar’s online shopping platform also features exclusive deals, enabling to you meet your shopping needs at the safety of your home.
