dress standards in doha

Hi What is the general standard of dress in Doha; I heard that they wear good quality brand names like YSL, benneton and Zapatti -? Also; I thought I would wear the abaya while over there but someone advised me not to "set the standard for westerners having to wear it" I don't mind it myself... thanks

We are wearing clothes to protect our skin from different types of weathers. Better to wear loose cotton clothes during summer. I don't think one can stay inside Carrefour just wearing Bikini. Centralised AC is on everywhere and it will be freezing. So cover up as much as possible while you are out. Decency matters... and will have respect in public as well.

Dress code means, dress up decently without revealing body parts. One must respect the customs, traditions and culture of a host country.

Qatar is very liberal and dress code is very relaxed, however this *is* a muslim country so wearing a bikini around Carrefour might be frowned upon. All major brands are available here. Not sure why you'd want to wear an abaya though. If you feel the need to cover up just dress modestly.

Wow! Didn't know that still mattered hey. Well, they do wear that.. we just can't confirm it cos it's worn under the abaya.

What you can do is splurge your money on a nice Gucci, Fendi, Louis, or Chanel purse and you're good to go.
