Ukranian Wife

I am considering taking a position in Qatar but have a concern over how easy it will be to get my wife a visa to join me. I am British and she is Ukranian. We are getting married in a couple of months.

Obviously until we are married she won't be able to live in Qatar but once we are is it going to be difficult to get a visa for her and her 8 year old son to join me? My company will sponsor her.

Hopefully someone can provide advice.

Thanks a lot

Step children aren't recognized as a legal relationship as such. Adoption can be. As I said talk to your employer's PRO for your options.

I think it will be possible. You marry the lady and legally adopt the child. Consult your company lawyer in this regard. Or else, the immigration department in Doha May brief you. Good luck

Thanks for the useful comments so far. I can imagine some complication with her son but I can't imagine I will be the first person to move to Qatar with a stepson.

Anyone got experience of getting step children residents visas?

The bigger issue is her son. If you aren't the father you cannot sponsor him as far as I know. Talk to your employer's PRO for options.

Hello. I got married earlier this year in Ukraine. Getting a visa for your wife should not be a problem. With your attested copy of your marriage certificate along with the supporting documents (passport copies, company letter, etc) and filling the appropriate form for applying for a visa, it should be issued within 1 week max.
