Starving Saluki

Yesterday whilst at the mangroves (nr mesaimeer) with my husband and foster dog we saw a beautiful beige coloured adult saluki with a frayed and worn red collar. It was lying in the shade of a mangrove tree in the mud but the dog ran away when we tried to approach. It was very thin. There is no way it could have found its way there itself - it must have been DUMPED. How long do you think it will survive out there? WHY are these animals dumped when no longer required? Why don't they take these unwanted animals to the vet to have them put to sleep instead of suffering a long, slow PAINFUL death in 50 degree heat? We went all the way back to the petrol station shop and bought some dry food and returned to the spot and also left some water - just hope it finds it. What is this world coming to? Yes I have sent an email to QAWS.
God Bless you oryx....
Thank you New Life - QAWS is ALL volunteer.... but people treat them like a fell funded state run shelter.
how can these people WALK AWAY and sleep at night, what sort of peoople must they be? Why should the fantastic volunteers at QAWS have to take on other people's responsibilities? You take on a cat or dog - YOU, not others, are responsible for it for the rest of its life. Spineless.
Good question - I wonder the same myself. In my spare bedroom I have 5 kittens that were dumped in a cardboard box in a car park. Plus one kitten that was dumped outside my door. I found a home for a cat that was dumped in Aspire park. Plus the cats on my compound that are dumped when the owners go. My two cats were dumped at the government vet.
Get your pets spayed/neutered and if caring for your pet is beyond your cognitive skills then try and find it a good home but don't dump it in 50C heat.
Oh and don't buy animals from souq wagif...adopt one!
QAWS are bursting with animals and my friends who try to help are overwhelmed too.
