Is securing a job in Qatar IMPOSSIBLE ?

NimbuPani
By NimbuPani

I have been trying hard up and down from 2 months to know why exactly is it delaying my job applications for securing a job in Qatar. It can be the reason that IT is less recognized here and so IT jobs may be less available or the jobs applied may be less falling in their interest. Many companies have recruitment only on the basis of "I KNOW YOU, YOU KNOW ME".

What is your experience? Is it possible to find jobs without wasta ? What do you recommend further step ? Is it that it would take up to a year for getting a job here ?

Your advise and guidelines are highly appreciated.

NimbuPani: You have just hit the nail on the head. We are "expats" - which means temporary. Too many people assume that Qatar is their permanent home or owes them a living..

Brite... Tat wud not b a better option rather i think recruitment in Qatar shld be based on skill, knowledge, experience and capability of a person and not by "I KNOW YOU, YOU KNOW ME" which is very unprofessional and trust me it also effects the nations growth when even a non capable person gets recruited due to "I KNOW YOU, YOU KNOW ME". There are so many dumbs working into IT, who had previously worked only in call centres.

Where can be a growth when a proper person is not recruited only becoz preference was given to "I KNOW YOU".

Sadly, what you say is a fact of life here in Qatar.

I always advise people to leave Qatar, rather than staying and getting into debt. I know its harsh, but I did the same in the past

BRITE... Wot would you say if even after doing all the above.. there is no job from months...

vacancies are there but not no reply..... you can see a company puts up ad and then does not contact the jobseeker cz the HR had put up an ad only to show his boss and in actual wanted his guy to be placed instead.

Finding a job in Qatar is not easy. Too many variables. The only way is to keep persevering. Send out lots of CVs, post on QL Jobs, contact agencies and check sites like BAYT and Gulfjobs..

Good Luck

It is an Indian company in Qatar which outsource IT staff services to companies in Qatar. And Yes it is real. I am not sure what money part you are talking about though.

@Virlib: Do you think VAMSYSTEMS is real... i applied there and got a reply to pay money to an Indian Address... Which shows it is completely with no office address in Qatar no Contact number but they have lots of vacancies than other consulting firms in Qatar.

You hold your own Visa? Do you mean free Visa....if so it could be the reason for employers not considering the application as Qatar visa formalities are very complicated. The more straighter it is the better...

@Virlib: Pls check. I think VAMSYSTEM is a fake company. i Applied there and got a reply to pay a sum of amount to proceed on an Indian address. They have no office in Qatar. No contact number.
