Saluki and Puppies
Can anyone help to feed a stray Saluki mother dog and her 4 puppies, living on a building site in Abu Hamour behind the Qtel tower? Last week they were really all starving: I've been feeding them daily, and the site watchman gives them water, but the young ones are getting bigger so any help will be appreciated. They are friendly, but shy with strangers. QAWS may be able to take them, but they are at full capacity. If you would like to help, please send me a private email and I'll let you have full details of the location.
Very happy to report that the story has a happy ending. Mother and puppies are together and safe in an 'foster home' while permanent families are found. Many thanks to Kim and Mohamed from Doha Vets who went beyond the call of duty to help, and all the others who contributed to this outcome.

I hope you were able to find the puppies (and mum) a home already. School holidays are ahead of us, with lots of bored children.
But got Saluki strays and they make great pets.
My thoughts are my own, but I doubt my Mum would agree with some of them.
Mother and puppies all safe and well after their suffering yesterday. I now have some photos, but can't upload. If anyone would like to see them, send me a PM and I'll attach on the reply. Thanks

I disagree. In a matter such as this there is a responsibility to educate these people about why animal cruelty is wrong. Unfortunately the government doesn't care about animals and wont admit Qatar has a problem with stray dogs, so it seems unlikely this education will happen any time soon.
I too hope that this thread will create a positive response, but I also think it's important to point out what will happen if it doesn't.
They prob have them in Afgan Paki and iraq...
Does anyone know if they do?
You can't teach experience...
Thanks Rav05
Tallg you may be right, but I am hoping that this thread will create a positive response and someone will be able to offer these puppies (and even their mother)a safe haven.
We can't do anything about the cruelty and violence unfortunately found everywhere in life, but perhaps we can make one small intervention which will make a big difference to three innocent creatures.
Unfortunately rock throwing and other torture of animals is common place here. And if that doesn't finish them off then they'll probably end up being shot when someone complains to the authorities about them.

Thanks, Speed and Rizks for your support. I'm in contact with Qaws but they are totally full, with 60+ dogs at the moment, so are just not able to help. I'm going to take some photos today and post them around, which may help to find good homes for them. The situation is getting serious as yesterday I saw some boys throwing rocks at the poor mother, who of course was trying to defend her young... I just hope they'll all be OK when I see them later.
why not give them to QAWS ....
Anyways hope the find a suitable home soon and surely ur effort would be rewarded by GOD.
appericiable and rewarded by GOD.
Just an update: there are now three puppies, all seem to be doing fine, their weight is good and they are lively, so thanks to those who got in touch and offered to help.
But now their life will start to get more dangerous as they begin to roam around. They need proper homes, so if any one could adopt one or more: they are about 8 -10 weeks old, two cream coloured (one male, one bold female), and one light brown female with a dark face (adorable).
Again, please get in touch and I'll give you details.
