Qatar - Traffic violation fine
I received a traffic fine of 1000Q.
The actual SMS is
"Please report to investigations section, industrial area, street 52 about vehicle number xxxxxx".
Only later I understood that the car would be impounded.
How long do they do it for?
Any way to reduce the duration.
Do I just have to report. No need to go in my vehicle. And see what they say.
The hukoomi website does not provide details. Then, based on reference number I was told I did not leave enough space between car in front.
I am a careful driver that have driven 145,000 kms so far without any traffic violation ever. No accidents. No fines ever.
I dont even recall driving like this.
I still feel the fine and the impounding is too much.
Please advise.
Is it possible to talk to anyone? Who to talk to?
Today I paid a similar fine and it's my mistake. (It doesn't matter the mistake is small or big, I consider the mistake is a mistake)
How ever, the reason for my comment is, I found difficulty in reaching this place due to closure of roads in Industrial area.
The best and easy route as far as i concern:
Go through Salwa road - Take the Exit 17 which will reach to new Industrial Area.
Pass three signal straight forward and you will see a bridge in front of you.
Pass the bridge and take a U turn. Then take the first right. I think it's (Al Kassarat Street).
You will find the place there. Also you will see a sign board of MILAHA. Go towards the same.
Please go to Madinat Khalifa and ask to see your violation. They will show you the video. Then, you can talk to captain. SOme people pay the fine, but dont get their cars impounded if requested (or pleaded). Please take someone who can speak arabic, that would be very useful.

Thanks for all your comments. I was able to recall when this incident happened and why. Was able to explain to captain that due to accident on a right lane the police directed the vehicles to go that way. Finally fine and impounding was withdrawn.

Thanks all for your advise. I went to the traffic department. I was told that I was driving on the shoulder. I was finally able to provide sufficient proof that driving on the shoulder was because there was an accident on the right lane and the police rerouted vehicles. Out of fine and traffic violation has now been removed.
Boredman: Don't they teach safe distance when you take lessons or during your test ?
Where it is mentioned the space between car to car ? It is responsibility of traffic department to release the clear rule , what exactly , what would be the fine . So it is clear to all.

I faced same matter before several years ago.
Some one (Police doesn't say who and he or she not inquire in front of me- inquire without complaint party) complain against my driving and same way send me sms to contact police.
When I immediately go to police they just take my car and key then simply ask me to go and come back after one month.

Are they even willing to listen? I heard they dont care.
It all depends on the offense. The car could be kept for a week or two.
It is best to go there and see the officer and explain that you need the car for family / work etc
