PLEASE IN NEED OF ADVICE REGARDING EXPIRED VISA

Hello !

So my name is Sara and I am in desperate need of advice. I came to Doha for three days on November 2017. On my last day I was offered a job by the manager of the hotel I was staying at. He said it would be at a new 5 stars hotel that would open January 1st 2018. I agreed to take an interview before I flew back to Canada (which by the way that is my country of residence). I did the interview and everything was fine. I went back home and this company called Wiseman Grand emailed me the job offer. Now they mentioned on the interview that they were going to flight me back here whithin two weeks and that they will have my work visa ready by then. As mentioned on the 14th of December I came back however, they didn’t send me any visa and they said that everything will be ready in immigration when I got here. So I left Canada and as soon as I got to Doha’s airport I called the manager of this hotel. He told me to show immigration my hotel booking which he had emailed to me and to tell them that I was here as a tourist. I didn’t understand why since they had said that I would have a work visa. Since I had no option I just showed my booking and with no questions asked they revoked my past visa (nov 23rd 2017- dec 23rd 2017) and gave me a new visa (dec 14th 2017 - jan 12 2018 ). I came and started work right after (before the hotel even opened). As the days went on I started to get worried because every time I asked for my contract and questions about my visa status here they would avoid it. Jan 1st 2018 came and I started work officially, mind you they still hadn’t given me the contract. I started having problems with my direct manager ( the guy that offered me the job) he was pretty much trying to give me money and since I wouldn’t accept any of whatever he wanted to give me he was giving me a hard time at work. Things started to get a little messy, I got sick a couple of times and because I was just here as a tourist I had to pay for my doctors visits, which the hotel never refounded me with.My tourist visa was extended online by HR January 12 2018 until feb 12 2018. In the ends of January I approached the owner of the hotel and told him my frustrations and he said he would look for a solution and let me know. The day after our conversation HR called me to the office and pretty much told me that they didn’t want to continue with me and that I had 3 days to pack my things and leave the hotel, also that since they flew me here they wouldn’t pay for my flight back home. I simply just asked for my pay and asked if I could at least have 4 days instead of 3 to figure out what I was going to do. They had me on a run around for those 4 days for my salary, I was supposed to get paid on the 31st of January 2018, and my salary was supposed to be 2000 Qatar riyals per month. I finally got a hold of the accountant and I was going to get my pay when he literally just handed me 800 Qatari riyals in cash and said that that was my pay. I didn’t understand how it went from 2000 to 800, also minding that i started to work on the 15th of December 2017, and never received a cent from them. I spoke to HR and she said well it is what it is. After me fighting with the owner of the hotel, he decided to pay me only 1500 riyals, which still wasn’t fair but I just took it and left. I never signed a contract with these people which is where I got lucky, but I’m stock here in Doha, thankfully I met some friends that have been helping me out with my living expenses. The issue is that my visa expired the 12 of February 2018 and I haven’t had any money to purchase a ticket back home. I tried contacting the Canadian embassy here but they didn’t offer me any advice. I have the money now for a flight back that my mother will purchase for me but I don’t know what to do regarding my visa situation. I have heard that I would have to pay for a fine for over staying, however if anyone knows if there’s a place where I can expose my situation and maybe I could get help regarding that it would be great. PLEASE ANY ADVICE WOULD BE WELL RECEIVED. PLEASE HELP ME FIGURE THIS OUT, I WOULD TRULY APPRECIATE ANY HELP.

Thanks

Sara Escobar

Go to the Human Rights Commission and file a police report. Tell the hotel that you will report them unless you are given all your dues and a ticket home

Hey don't worry, Go to immigration department at Gharaffa passport office 2nd Floor. Talk to the Immigration officer, he will extend your visa. Don't tell them same story. because working on arrival visa is a crime.
