@Baursak - in my apartment, once every 3 months the pest control comes. We never pay for it, because it is covered by the landlord. I think you can choose not to have your apartment sprayed in some buildings, but most of the time its compulsory and is preventative... The other advice is all useful too!

please check the name...and are they authorized....make sure unauthorized are not allowed...and their chemicals are approved by ministry of environment..please ask all the questions. also it is advisable to stay one day in a hotel...adults can coop with it..but sometimes for the safety of children it is important.
