PC for son

Just moved here, and am looking for a new PC - probably a desktop for my son - 10ys. ( I know now, i should i bought it before we moved ...) It will be a family computer, as well.

1) Recommendations on where to look for Computers?
2) Best recommendation for a PC - speed, quality, and Most Important Service in Doha, if it were needed.

would like to buy a big monitor.

Prices over here are trice of what you get in US. I recommend you order online, even with the shipping it will be more cheaper than getting ripped off over here

Windows 7 is just as busted as people regret for Vista. Windows XP is the ruler of PCs nowadays, nearly everyone downgrades from Vista to XP.

"Everything is okay in the end, if it's not ok, then it's not the end."

"When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one that has opened for us."

Windows 7 needs less resources than Vista. It is the applications which are "memory hungry".

What about the inpending release of Windows 7. All the stuff out there now carries Vista (Sh#@#$%%$). Do you think the current PC's will upgrade easily or like in the past need new hardward to handle the new OS?

why buy 2,500 laptop and 1,000 22 inch monitor if you can buy just a PC Desktop as what he was looking for his son anyway.

there is a Compaq Presario Desktop CQ2000 for 1,100 QR (Intel Atom, 1GB RAM, 1.6ghz processor, 160GB HDD) with Free keyboard, mouse and just buy a monitor for around 1,000 QR as well.

Besides he's looking for a desktop. not a laptop. pfffttt!

Looks like I have to explain...

If you have only laptop you will not be able to watch movies with your family as the screen size is small.

But if you have a 22 inch monitor you can connect your laptop to your monitor and the you have big screen.

Also if you buy external TV tunner you can watch TV channels on your laptop or on the Monitor or both!!! and record on laptop.

When you travel you can take your laptop with you. While if you have only desktop you will not be able to take it with you when you travel.

Buy a QR 2,500 Laptop and a QR1,000 Monitor (22inch) Connect Laptop to Monitor through HDMI...it becomes your TV and your Computer...

Also you can take your laptop from room to room & also while travelling.

Heya, i think this is the best one on QL right now, just remember, the more you pay, the better, faster, more durable it is. Paying QR3000 for a PC that will run for 10 years and will remain great, is actually a V. GOOD investment ;)
