passport confiscation and salary

I was back from vacation a week ago...aftr returning i disagreed to confiscate my passport...as a guarantee dey took my ATM card before vacation...now dey are not giving my card n pataka as a punishment for not giving my passport...i approached labour dept.dey insisted me to lodge a complaint in high court...now salary for month of march-april is blocked in my account...passport confiscation is illegal by law...dey why am i tortured by not paying my dues...is dis justice?

I would not suggest him going to the court. From what I hear, it takes several months before the hearing takes place and the verdict to come. During this period he would need to be present at the court on all the dates when the hearing is scheduled to take place. Also, the company may decide to stop paying him his salaries during this period till the decision from the court comes, thus putting him in great financial difficulties.
It is really a shame that most companies do not want to change and abide by the law.You can either choose to lodge a complain with the high court(They are located just behind commercial bank in west bay) or to move a bit fast, called Qatar foundation for combating human rights at 44912888 or visit their website for office location http://qatarfcht.com/en/index.php/contact-us-1
ATM card is property of bank which issued to you. Make a complaint to bank and involve them to get back. Even ID card they are not supposed to seize from you. Totally a arrogant administration.
Possibly, the Human Rights people could help you out. Go to their office and register a petition. They will call your office people. However, please keep in mind that your action could get your office people to retaliate. They will hit back by terminating your service and sending you home. This is what happened in my company.
Sorry to read this....not that its solving the bigger problem but could you tell your bank you lost your ATM card so they could give you a new one....and hopefully you could get your salary?
