OK, I've been reading through the site, and can't answer these questions yet....

Maids -- what is the availability of good honest maids, and what are they paid? If I want to bring maid with me, is it easy or difficult, and why?

Wine -- I gather you apply for a liquor license when you arrive -- which means you receive an allocation of liquor. Does this differentiate between booze and wine?

In other words, are you allowed 2 bottles a month of alcohol, without consideration to whether it's tequila or wine or beer?

What is the allowance?

Bridge -- I just read that you aren't allowed to bring playing cards into the country. If that is the case, that means no bridge groups exist. Is that true?

Thank you

There are Bridge groups that play so cards shouldn't be a problem.

Beer, liquior, wine is based on salary, the more money you make the more you can buy.

No idea on the maid question

Stepmalla I hope that the following helps you.

Maids - getting a good maid is hard - there are agencies who can help you. Best idea re bringing in your own maid is to contact immigration dept and the labour dept, I warn you there will be loads of red tape and hasstle with this.

Allocations for the Syndicate (or booze souk as commonly known) is based on salary and requires a 1000 Qr refundable deposit when you cancel the license. Spirits and wine are all under this license.

Playing cards - never heard of them being not allowed in the country, There are playing cards here.

Stepmalla. Hope this helps a little.
