You know, there are other resources besides QL. I'd suggest "Don't They Know it's Friday" and the blogs available. Just google Qatar blogs.

Qataris i met are intelligent ones, as Molten Metal said, real and honest approach will surely work best in establishing good personal relations than giving any present. Beware instead of those that need presents in echange for good PR.

What about real & honest approach without hidden agendas ..?

What about presents? Are they welcome? Any particular stuff (price doesn't matter)?

Greetings are always welcomed by Qataris .. hand shake is considered friendly ... if you don't do it.. you might lose the deal .. :)

Cars and technology as a topic for chat works most of the time... but also keep in mind the age factor.. and old guy wouldn't be so interested to talk about cars ..etc.

i feel that westerners are very shrewd and they make them spend so much on everything and then they try to make them full of debts and increase the dependency thereby decrease their independence .... then ultimately they try to become the owners of everything ...

Thanx! That's a kind of answer i was looking for. And what about personal behavior, shaking hands, chat etc?

Not explaining properly your terms and conditions as a partner....

Exaggerating your skill/business will lead them to believe that you are a cheat

Not understanding your Qatari partner's capabilities or "Reputation" .... by that i mean.. not all Qatari partners can easily get you.. Bank loans, work visas, Trade license etc.

Also very important to know his financial situation
