Internet speed upgrade FAIL!
Hello! Anybody here in QL who upgraded their internet speed but nothing happened?
Our household applied for an upgrade from 1MB to 4MB two weeks ago but we never noticed any change in the speed. We tried testing it using speedtest.qa but still we get at most 1.20 mb in download speeds. I tried looking at the router configuration and ironically, I found that the router is actually acknowledging the download speed of 4 MB which is quite weird.
To make matters worse, Qtel service is soooo bad! We've tried caling almost everyday and we always get answers of either "tech support is still working on it" or "we will post a reminder" for the nth time. One time we thought Qtel will start really working on the case when they asked for my mobile, said they'll call back within 10-15 mins-- Never received any call from Qtel that day.
Have been doing that test for the past two weeks already hoping that qtel would do something, to no avail.
The thing is, even if there's only one computer connected to the wireless and no internet apps open, 1.20 MB/S is still the max speed we're getting.
Did you try the link I gave earlier? Qtel customer service can be a headache to deal with. Your speed might depend on many factors. Most probably the speed is being split between other connections.
We used to have 2MBPS installed in our old flat and we're getting at least 1.70 - 1.80 MB/S. Even Qtel operators were surprised we were only getting slow speeds after doing the speedtest.
Are you getting download speeds of 1.20 Mb/s ? At best a 4MBPS connection would only get you download speeds of 512kbps.
