Here are the tips which you need to consider prior to your driving test.
1. Dress Appropriately:
Impress your examiner with your best cloths and wear some perfume. make sure your clothes are comfortable though.
2. Don’t Ask too many questions:
Just take instructions from your examiner and follow them with the least amount of questions.
3. Don’t Forget the basics:
Remember to adjust your seat and mirrors before you drive. Also fasten your seat belt.
4. Communicate with others in the car:
Remind passengers to fasten their seat belts.
5. Stay at a Good Speed:
Drive confidently in a relaxed mood at a good speed (within speed limit of the road). Your examiner will not like it if you drive too slow or too fast.
6. Check Handbrake:
Before you start the engine, check the handbrake, and don’t forget to put the car into neutral gear.
7. Entering the Main Road:
Before merging into the main road, check your side mirrors then your blind spot. Not checking the blind spot will result into failing the test.
8. Keep distance between cars:
Keep a safe distance between your car and the car in front of you. Stick to the two second role, meaning that you have to allow two seconds between you and the car in front of you.
9. Changing Lane:
When changing lanes, don’t forget to check mirrors, blind spot, then indicate. Speed up, but stay within the speed limit when you change lanes.
10. T-Junctions:
When entering a main road from a secondary road at a T-junction, wait until the road is clear of cars and pedestrians. Make sure you have enough time to pull out safely at a relaxed pace.
11. Blind Spot:
Don’t miss the blind spot check at any time. you miss it, you fail.
12. Hard Brakes:
Don’t you ever apply hard brakes for no reason. Hard breaking is a direct cause of accidents and examiners hate it.
13. Roundabouts:
Make sure to stay in your lane and to give indicator while exiting the roundabout.
14. U-turn:
Shift to low speed lane after taking U-turn in fast lane from a roundabout.
15. Parking the car:
Always park the car parallel to the road when asked to park by your examiner. Never park in front of any entrance, gates, or access to pavement for disabled pedestrians.
16. On test day:
When your name is called out to go along with the other three candidates and the examiner to the designated car, try not to be the first one. Also, do not mention to the examiner that it is your first attempt, they tend to fail first time candidates.
Confidence is your key factor of success, but don’t be over confident. Be nice but not too nice, be quite but not too quite. Make a good impression about yourself.
1 - Focussing and paying attension during driving.
When you are driving, you need to first of all make sure your mirrors are all adjusted properly.
Secondly, you need to keep a lookout for other cars, signs and traffic signals.
If you're not confident, you'll tend to focus on one aspect and forget the other;
For example, you might focus on looking at the speedometer because you're scared to go over the speed limit and forget about the cars moving around you. This means you are not paying "FULL" attention. Make sure you pay attention to all aspects all the time.
2 - Overall vehicle control
This really has to do with how you accelerate and brake. Do not start the car and dash off like super sonic nor should you drive super slow to get a pass mark. You should drive normally and when its time to brake it should be smooth. The smoothness of braking a car comes when you gradually brake bit by bit until it brakes perfectly.
Also, vehicle control involves how well you turn a car. Sometimes you need to do a U-Turn, so be prepared for it as soon as you have your left indicator on.
3 - Keeping and determining enough distant
At a traffic signal, you're either at the traffic signal or behind some other car. You should not be too close to another car or too far away. The distance is good if you can just see the back Tyre of the car in front of you.
Also when you're driving, your car should not be too close to the sidewalk or other lanes - keep an eye on this when you're driving and make sure you are always in your lane.
4- Passing and overtaking
This means accelerating quicker than another car and overtaking. You need first make sure you put a signal on and then drive very quickly and gradually take a small turn to overtake the other vehicle.
Don't be nervous here, in real life you need to do TONS of overtaking and if you get it wrong, you're dead.
5 - Committing to road signals and trafic signs
Traffic signals starts flashing yellow - you need to start braking immediately.
The No entry sign is a complete no go and the parking lines which means no parking should be avoided. The officer may try to make you park in no parking zones - beware of this!!!
6 - Changing lanes
Changing lanes is similar to overtaking. Make sure signal is on and take a smooth turn in...don't be nervous just do it.
