How stern-hearted can Israelis' go?

Israel has stopped a humantarian aid ship going to Gaza. I wish to have an understanding of how stone hearted an Israeli can get as to prevent humantarian aid in a 21st century of progress and evolved cultures! I request somebody who has probably worked with Israelis to throw some light on this- for the sake of understanding a community.
Kind Regards.

Thanks for some info on the topic. The link for the aid stoppage is http://www.gulf-times.com/site/topics/article.asp?cu_no=2&item_no=300822&version=1&template_id=57&parent_id=56.
well i haven't heard of a humanitarian ship being intercepted, can u provide some links.
The last ship which was intercepted was a ship carrying protesters to Gaza. The stopped it because they would incite the people of Gaza and ask them to resort to violent methods of agitation, to stop the escalation of the situation they did not allow that ship.
I have met a couple of Israelis and they are really good people.
According to me Israel is a country which uses disproportionate force on the enemy if provoked. They don't fear anything
