HELP "O" positive blood

Ladies and Gentlemen
I have been asked to pass on the following in the hope that some of you may be able to help.
Last Tuesday Natalie, a South African lady was rushed into
hospital for emergency cesarean at 28 weeks, because of a viral infection. Both her and the newborn boy are in critical condition in the ICU. To make matters worse, Hamad Hospital has run out of O positive blood, she desperately needs blood platelets to stay alive. Luckily her mom and brother have arrived, which will
certainly aid in her recovery.

My blood card from the U.S. said that I was 0 negative..Hence, I was always swamped with donation requests in my mailbox...but my Qatari ID says 0+. Maybe the same labworker ;)

baby are OK now, she said that she don't think they need more blood for her or for the baby, but they are waiting for the Doctor's advise.

They have my mobile number, they will inform me.

I had heard the problem with the low blood supply is with Hamad Hospital itself and all the road works outside. On-top of this the actual building for the blood donating is quite obscure and not many people at Hamad know where to direct you (got this from someone on my compound who donated blood over the w/end).

I believe O- is the universal donor (not both O's).

However can we have a Medical professional clarify and also an update on the person who was critically ill, thanks

After trying several numbers in different departments in HMC, finally I reached 'Natalie' ... I spoke to the Nurse and she mentioned to me that they are waiting for the Doctor's advise.

If they need more blood they will call me. If I receive a call, we will run 'Blood Donation' Campaign for Natalie and for others in general.

Even if you are alone and tested safe, you can easily donate your blood! Mention Natalie as an inspiration but anybody that need the O+ blood will be given. HMC just need to have more blood of any group!!!!!

About 50% of the population has O+ & O- blood. But because O+ & O- can be used for ALL blood types (A & B as well)they use much more of it.

So if people with A & B blood types also donate, they wont need to use as much O blood.

omar92cs your blood group is on the back of your health card.

coolquietman the blood donation unit is OPPOSITE the multi storey car park at Hamad. First right hand turn as you come in the first Hamad gate.

O+ can recieve both O+ and O- blood.

Only O positive blood types can donate to O+ types.

if you are AB+, you can receive blood from any group however.

the blood donation unit is next to the huge 4 storey car park of hmc(opp lulu).its a single storey white colour building.

i certainly appreciate anyone who offers to donate blood.well done!
