Hala Cards - New Extended Validity

I noticed in the paper they are advertising now that you get free extention on your hala card when you top up your credit. Ie 30 days credit, gets you 30 days validity ... 50 riyals credit gets 50 days validity.
However, when I topped up my credit it did not give me extra validity as my original validity was already past that date. So effectively, I have lost my 3 months validity that I had extended just prior to the announcement by Q Tel.

Also, not sure if anyone has tried to top up their hala card with their validity about to expire, but a friend was telling me that they topped up their credit (only a few days ago)as their validity was about to expire on 14 October. Instead of getting 30 days extra validity they only got 3 days. (but did get the 30 riyals credit for calls)
Has this happened to anyone else yet? The person who this happened to, does not speak English very well, but was upset about it. Do you think it is worth calling Q. Tel? They have since thrown their scratch card out.

It's about time Q Tel started to do something about their extortionate charges for sim cards. Wish they would get some competition ...

Hoping someone can shed some light for me ...

Thank you.

why you people are too much anxious for extending the validity of mobile?

we do it mostly free...

near our house, there is a man who extend validity for 4 months for only 5 Qr

he do like this:

he open a new hala card of 100 Qr and use it on my mobile.

i get 100 balance and 4 months validity.

then he just transfer the money to his mobile.

he distribute the money to the people who wants.

so, we don't buy any hala card.if we need balance,we get it from him.

it's really cheap than before. i have to spend only

15 Qr per year.i think new system is better than previous one.Qtel are not getting much money from us.

we can save money than before.hurrrrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what everyone think about this???

When you originally buy your sim card you get 12 months validity. After that the Sim Card expires.

Previously you had to top up the validity - 50QR got you 99 days. Or get another SIM card with new phone number and start all over again. (which in the past was around 300QR unless they had their special offers on)

Now, they are saying you don't have to buy validity, it is included in your hala card recharge.

What I am unhappy about is the validity days are not accruable.

What's all this rubbish about validity? In the UK and Europe, if you've got credit you can use your phone. Simple. If you are without credit for several months your sim card becomes void.

Can't you pay Qtel QR 180 and get a year's validity? This is what I understood from their really helpful website.

I have just rang Q Tel and they have advised that what happens now, regardless of when you validity expires is you will get 30 days from the day you scratch and use your Hala recharge card. (based on 30 riyal card). If you credit period is currently longer than the 30 days, then that period is still effective. So it's hardluck to all of us who had just extended our credit before this new Hala Card system came in to place. (which our whole family just did)

In a word, the new validity is not accrueable. For example, if you had 10 days left on your validity and had to buy another card ... then your 30 days would be effective from the date you sctratched you new card.

What I am disappointed with in this new system, is that for those who don't use the mobile much, will have to buy credit as the validity could be expiring while they still have credit. So this new system will be forcing you to use your credit each month. I know the money isn't much ... but it's the principle.

ROLL ON COMPETITION ......

This new Hala Card system should be accruable.

i heard about this as well ... was meant to ask about it on here ...

i actually thinking that the card should extend 2 months of your existing expiriy. What they are doing now is extending 2 months on the date you recharge.

Mine is 28 QR left and the expiry till 28th of December. Means if i top it up now it will only extended till 9th of December. Which mean i lost nearly 20 days times 50 dhs .... means 10 QR.

In places like Singapore ... your card will be extended 6 months from the last expiry date.

Jaelee, it's about time we had a coms company other than Q-Tel. I think it's going to happen next year.
