EID Holiday

Hi QLer's,

I was amazed when one of my friend told me that they still have work even EID holiday season...Isn't that it is clearly stated in the Qatar Labor Law that every company here in qatar should abide to that rule of 3 days off to all employees... Is that really possible to a company to do...not to let their employees to have this 3 days off in EID season.

Please advise if this is legal for them to do and if not what is/are the possible penalty that the company will face. The name of the company is YALLA TRANSPORT and the HR & Administrator is a Filipina named LIZA...

I was just a concern citizen for those employees of these company that they are not treating well and not compensating well.

Hope we can do something for them... Thank you!!!

I think it's not only the position, but also with the employer or the kind of business they have. For sure there are also Managers that will work on those days. (Restaurant Managers). Lol

Thank you guys for commenting.

I understand all of your comments and yes right it will really depend on the position and hoping that my friend and some of the staff of that company could be compensated after they work on EID holidays.

Cheers to all and Happy EID!!!

As long as they get paid accordingly (overtime).

I think I understand.

Rich people who work in offices need 3 days holiday, but poor people who work as laborers and in car washes and in restaurants and as porters in supermarkets should be forced to keep working so that I enjoy holiday.

Either the law is for everyone to have 3 days off, or it's not. I can't understand how it can be okay for some people to continue working, but others MUST have a holiday.

well i think this law for Office Staffs, not for All the Categories.

Because they cannot close malls and Showrooms for all three days,, yes they close it for 1st Eid Day.. but other Two Days they call employees for work.. (But they Pay Overtime or Some Compensation for this also, as far as i heard)..

and what's with the nationality and name? It's as if she owns the company and makes the company policy. She's just following her boss for sure. Dude this law is not absolute and some companies simply do not follow. Penalty? Who will penalize?

Do you think that Carrefour will be closed for 3 days so that all their staff get a holiday?

Will maids be given 3 days off for Eid too?

There are plenty of Companies especially in the trading who are asking their employees to work during Eid Holidays. They should be either given over time or extra off to compensate.
