Use it only while on travelling abroad, for airlines fares and hotels which sometimes demand credit card payment. However, immediate payment should be made to offset credits.
I only buy things on my credit card, that I already have the money for in a savings account. Transfer the money over straight away, and never pay interest. If you don't already have the money to buy something, should you really be buying it?

Oh, cmon! my friends.
You can borrow the money in order to invest... it is not only to buy that you can buy.
You can buy with credit, for use the money in your benefit, but sharing part of the benefit with the lender of the money.

Basic rule of the game while using a financial instrument... know what u are getting into and what u can get into...
Ditto with baldrik2dogs...live within means and pay in full..

That is the game of credit. The longer you pay your debt, the higher will be the effective interest rate.
Depends on interest.
I will give an example.
I have a friend in Spain that has a mortgage.
His mortgage is at rate Euribor+0,5%
Meaning around 1,8% nowadays.
The bank is offering him a savings account with 3% yearly.
Lets imagine he has some saving: 10,000.00 EUR.
What do you think is better? overpay the mortgage or deposit in saving account?
Obviously, in this case, it is better to put in saving account; but always depends on rates.
BTW - rates for credit cards are crazy, I always pay full at the end of the month.

I always pay in full. Never, ever live beyond your means.
long time ago I decided to go above the minimum payment always (and while my budget can afford it).
Regards!!
