Driving from Doha to Dubai

I am a filipino expat with valid Qatar driving license and planning to drive to dubai with family using our owned private vehicle. Can someone who has successfully made it to Dubai from Doha and back provide me step by step with what I need to do? All I'm kinda aware of a Saudi transit visa, but I have no idea if that's right or how to get it or costs/timing involved. Also, someone informed me regarding driving license, stated:  visitors are not permitted to drive non-rental cars in the UAE unless they have obtained a temporary UAE driving licence. Is my Qatar driving license be accepted?

As of my experience from 2014, If you drive your own car from Qatar, there's no need of seperate driving license. you may use your Qatari DL.

550 QAR for Saudi visa is a huge hike. It was 150 before :O and just for a transit only. The entry visa for UAE is 220 AED

Please note the below details are based on my travel experience a year back. It was very useful to have car in dubai especially with kids as you have flexible timing.

Also recommend to use Metro, park you car in metro stations as it safe lot of time travelling in traffic.

Fuel refill

- WOQOD near Qatar - Saudi enter point ,

- After entering Saudi Border travel around 110 Kms you have a petrol station SASCO with burger king, restroom, store and prayer area

- you have multiple petrol station between Qatar and Saudi every 40 kms, but one which is at 110kms is better one with reasonable good facilities.

- After 1 km from the final SASCO petrol station you have a McDonald across the road before the Saudi - Abu Dhabi border

- After you Cross Al Ghwaifat border, you don't have petrol station for almost 360 kms, then you will reach ADNOC petrol station which has facilities which includes KFC, stores and Restroom.

Hi Mark

You need to take Saudi visa from an agency near Sana Roundabout, now they charge approx 550 QR per person for saudi visa which includes insurance.

For driving license, you can get international driving licence from official driver association in c ring road.

But first apply dubai visa online, for applying Saudi transit visa. you need to attach the approved visa along with your passport when applying for saudi visa.

I am not carrying my travel log book, but will send you the exact name of agency and other details by tomorrow.

Bye
