we want to get a credit card but cant decide which one.there are dozens of packages offered by various banks but as usual everything has its hidden clauses and hitches. so which bank and card do u use and are u happy with it? what are the offers that attracted u and how good did they turn out to be?

i see dozens of ads for dubai  bank credit cards that offer cash back scemes of upto 3% are there any such schemes here?

thanks in advance everyone!

I completey agree with you, but the main advantage for amex for me is that I can check all what I spent online, in details, the shope name and country, and currency, and everything, when should you pay, and you can do this everytime you log in to your account on the internet.

But the only way with the other cards to know if somebody was using your card without your knowing is to wait until the end of the month and you recieve the statement, right?

I think it's worth it, just for this advantage, other than that Amex is well known with the internet security, if you want to buy something on the internet, which I do more than shoppin in stores.

have a safe spending

I guess QNB and CBQ cards are much beter..These both banks services are good, If you wanted life time free card then go for Doha bank. All these banks have option to pay back online,i have experience for these three banks..only.

good luck..

Hi Lamea,

AMEX office is on Salwa Road, if you are driving from Ramada signal towards Industrial area, where Jareer Bookstore on your right hand in the first complex, keep going to the third complex, just before Qatar decoration flyover, then you will see the office next to ALBATEEL.

Or if you have a Doha bank account you can register direcctly from there, with an advantage that you can transfer directly from your bank account to Amex account.

Honestly I forgot the requirements, but I think they might ask about salary certificate or a bank statements in the last three months, or so, but any way, since I know how difficult to get to places in Qatar due to traffic, here is the Tel. No. ask them before you go.

Bahrain: 8000 17 17

Qatar: 0800 973 009

International: (+973)17 55 72 38

Note: the main office in the Middle east is in Bahrain.

Send me PM if you need anny further information, or if you need any help.

Good Luck.

thanks everyone. oabazeed i am interested in this option. previously i had a commercial bank combo and i was happy with it but when i had to transfer my salary account for certain reasons i had to clear my balance for which they charged me quite a bit. do give me the details and directions for the american express office on salwa road.thanks

Stay away of the banks, and go for direct registration with American Express, I can give you the details if you want.

I deal with them since long time, the communication with the customner is very good, the priveliges overseas while travelling, and the most important is that you will have an internent account, where you can check your expenses in details (unlike the banks cards, VISA & MC).

The only disadvantage is that you have to go to there office on Salwa road to pay in cash from time to time, unless you have a Doha Bank account where you can transfer online.

Good luck

Cheers

Commercialbank owns the cards market, have been very pleased with their service, you should try the diners+visa card combo.. nothing comes close to this package... trust me I've used it all.
