I am new here in Qatar and currently bed spacing with 2 other ladies. But the flat that we are living in now is a family flat with 2 families and our room with us 3 ladies as bed spacer. and the last room is used by a couple that not married. As told by my room mates been living in the flat long before I arrived, they are not married. And the worst part is that one of the couple is married in his native country while the other party is not. and as per the story goes they converted to Islam to make legal their living together here in Qatar. How true is this. I just want to know being that I am new here in Qatar and I don't want to be involved in something that the state of Qatar find not legal.

Hope to get some response from people who knows about this things so i can decide if i need to transfer accommodation.

I would like to clarify that I am not affected what so ever by the couple. I am only asking for opinions since I am new here and upon knowing that they are not really legally married I just want to know if its ok here or not. And as answered it is not legal here so probably ill tr to find another place without complications like that. I am I dont mind what they do its their lives but I am worried as a lady about the what ifs.... In short it is safer to just follow the rules here, we are after all just guest in this country

Converting to islam will not make living together legal at any point. Only legal marriage will make it legal to live together !!!

Its not legal they should be married legally even if they are converted.

If your not comfortable about it, then leave the room don't get yourself in trouble, don't mind them its none of your business.

This is illegel. once they are checked and caught by police ,you also have to face problem. also what nonsen they speak, about islam. islam never allowed such kind of relationships and live. but if they have no document to submit when required by law, they all are in trouble. even they converted islam, they should have documents and marriage cert.
