I sent your photo's to a friend of mine who is in to herbitology he seems to think the same as dracula that it it is a species of East African Sand Boa. While not venemous they are quiet snappy if you try and grab them from above.

There are spieces found euroupe and the america's. chances are it has traveled from its point of origin in a shipping container. Happens quite a lot with various snakes and spiders. I remember several years ago in Dubai they had a new found problem with red back spiders setting up homes there.

East African Sand Boa

Scientific Name:

Epicrates cenchria cenchria

Description:

Also known as Kenyan Sand Boa, Egyptian Sand Boa,

Yellowish or orange colour with dark brown splotches

This snake is nocturnal animal

Distribution:

Found in most East African countries

Including Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Sudan, Eqypt...

Breeding:

When it reaches sexual maturity ages of 3 years old

Give birth to live young after 4 months of breeding

Nesting:

6 to 20 babies per clutch

Size:

Hatchling: 15 to 20 inches

Adult male: Up 15 to 18 inches,

Adult female: Up to 30 inches possible

Lifespan:

Up to 16 years or more

Diet:

African sand boa eat very little

Young boa should be fed every 5 to 7 days

Adult boa eating schedule is 1 to 2 weeks once

Hatchling: Insects and small pinky mice

Adult: Lizards and rodents

Avoid keeping rodent with the snake overnight

A bowl of fresh water should be provided for the snake

Snake Habitat and Vivarium Housing:

In captivity, temperature should be around 82°F

Keep the basking spot around 89°F

I am inclined to think it is a type of sand snake commonly found near cultivated areas. Mildly toxic but not harmful to man. Useful reptiles for rodent control as they feed on rats/mice. Probably came in from the garden. I would call Pest Control to come and check for others.

it's not a snake, its a lizard that has no limbs. I just forgot what that thing is called. I saw one like that before.

i thought it was a worm when i first saw the pic, but he said that it tried to bite him when he picked it up!bloody aussie!

we dont have any indoor plants so maybe that spoils that theory?

could be under your bed too.

Its just the soil (used for the indoor plants) which comes from subcontinent and few eggs are buried in them. they just hatch here.

yeah it was in my lounge i have someone house sitting at the moment, so they were the lucky ones to deal with it.

trust me if i had of been there with my kids i wouldnt of been taking photos either!
