i love arabic sweets especially baklawa and shaabiya but dont know the best in town. The ones i have had here are not half as good as the ones i had in UAE. kindly give me the names of the best makers of these sweets in doha. thanks.
I think you are talking about Bohsali Al Qasr. Wonder if it is still in business. It is a pre-historic outlet. Used to be good. Never tried it for decades.
The best place for Arabic sweets is in Al Saad. I have a blank as to the name, but it is next to Al Majlis restaurant. It has a green sign outside. This is the place all qataries go to. They have kunaafa and all the other goodies too.
We call ir baklawa also, and i would suggest the Take Away or you can buy from Jamea'a the one in Tins the green colour from Beirut or Syrian if i'm not mistaken.
And for the best Gamat in town, is also in take away..

They call it Konafa ... that is my favorite sweet ever especially the soft one with cheese ...
Some will call it Naboulsyeyah because of the cheese they put inside and that is the name of it. It is a salt cheese that needs to be soaked in water to get rid of the salt in it.

by the way i also like the basboosa type sweet that has halloumi cheese inside. what is it called, i never did get the name!Basboosa bijubn is the closest i ever got to guessing its name.heheh!!!
