Anywhere to donate household items and clothes?
I will be leaving Qatar this summer. I have sheets, towels, clothing (women's), kitchen items, and other household goods that I would like just to give away, much as I would at home to the Salvation Army or other organization that would then pass them on to people who might need them. Is there anything like this in Qatar? I'm not really interested in having a table-top sale; I want to give it all away. Any suggestions?
If you want to you could check the cost of shipping to orangeburg sc and i will pay the shipping i am in need of different household items and would be happy to take them off your hand if you still have them!
It's a play on the words free + recycle. I just checked and there is a Doha version:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dohafreecycle/
There are Freecycle lists all over the world; here's some more information about the Doha list:
"The Doha Freecycle™ group is open to all who want to "recycle" that special something rather than throw it away. Whether it's a chair, a fax machine, a cricket bat or an alarm clock, feel free to post it. Or maybe you're looking to acquire something yourself! Nonprofit groups are also welcome!
One main rule: everything posted must be free. This group is part of The Freecycle Network, a nonprofit organization and a movement of people interested in keeping good stuff out of landfills. Check out freecycle.org for more info on the movement! E-mail [email protected] for questions or improvement ideas!
Have fun and jump right in!"
I appreciate that a lot of the people in desperate need may not have access to this (lack computer facilities/English language), but maybe the Mitery Club could sign up on their behalf. So far, there are very few members, and only a couple of things have been offered (most of the postings to date are standard 'admin' notices).
People post items as "OFFERED - followed by a description" in the subject line, with details in the body of the post. Or people can also post a "WANTED - followed by a description" with details of what they want in the body of the post. However, the usual etiquette is not to post a 'Wanted' until after you have 'Offered' something.
I know quite a few eco-aware, environmentally-friendly types back home, who like to re-use and recycle stuff as much as possible, anything from beds and bookcases, to bikes, to books, to baby clothes.

Qatar charity take stuff for needy people. I know one drop off point near Al Meera in Mansoora area.
I will be dropping some of my stuff there in a couple of days and can post their number once I have it.
Ya better to give them to the peoples who need it..not who buy it...

I am also leaving this summer and would like to donate household items to charity.
