This community is notorious and good hearty in collecting monies for others poor fellows like yourself. Just Keep begging, someone might pitch-in a tin can lid in disguise of a coin.

Be careful what you write everyone, you might violate QL community guide line#2 on tradition and customs.

i hear the traffic dept. in the souq offers good bargains, but one has to haggle with them...push for 3k & settle for 4 & a half...

check the actual violation first, the videocam recording.

this happened to me before and i did not settle for months and thus living a stressful life of driving from thereon.

soon when i am about to renew istimara, it's only then that i found i'm only few ticks on beating the red on a U-turn.

thus, my actual penalty is only QR500.

maybe same thing happened to your friend, so no harm in checking it out.

good luck ;)

i have my 82 yrs old mother in law. who cannot walk for long period coz she had just operated in her leg, and had a pace maker. she wants to go to buy medicine in boots pharmacy she is from UK and she is getting something in boots. i parked my car in that parking space becuase i had a wheelchair with us and its easy for me. she is a big lady. she is only here for holiday. and i do not know that i need a permit for it. What a big S i am. anyway.. charged to first experience in qatar. i am here 2 months ago.. where can i pay the fine? i check it on the website and my violation is not there.

babesphil .... same thing happened to a friend of mine; who parked there to drop his old visiting father to the gate of villagio....... but got a ticket in the meantime.

He pursued the matter vigorously, even meeting the high-ups in Traffic Department but was to no use.

I doubt if you can pursue up to that level being a lady.

So, I can only sympathize with you. So Sorry; but we encounter sometimes such unforeseen expenses.

we are here in qatar 2 months ago, and my mother in law arrived last Dec 15 for christmas visit. she had been operated in her leg and had a pacemaker. she can't walk for long distance. we went to villagio.i stop and park my car in special need space to get her to boots pharmacy to get some medicine. and when i came back i got a yellow sticker on my car say traffic violation. i called the traffic dept. and they told me to go to al rayyan traffic police and spoke to manager. they told me to go to the main.(madina khalifa)but, unfortunately, manager is not there... i want to explain that i don't know that we need to get a permit for that.. and also i don't know how much is the fine and where to pay it. we are not applying for a permit because my mother in law is just visiting and not staying. if anyone can tell me if i really have to go and speak to the manager or how much is the fine? and where to pay? it will be my first and last mistake.. thanks.

... who talk on the phone while driving or jump red lights and got away with taking their kids to the traffic department and make them scream or work on the 'cute' influence towards the police officers. Shame really... I honestly think they should get the WHOLE WACK and pay it, why should they get away with it? Talking on the phone whilst driving - get hands free kits! And as for driving through red lights, no excuse there.

In the UK you get jailed for it, and sure don't just get away with it!

i agree with Mandi... why should they give him one? so that the next time he does it again, he can just shrug his shoulders and easily pay the "discounted" amount?

If your friend crossed it just when it did lit (a second or two) or there was a reasonable story for crossing the read light, for sure they would discount

I saw some ppl got the fine to 500 instead of 6000 and no points for crossing it in the beggining of the time, try khalifa or khraytiyat.

hope you will meet helpful people as i did myself :)

remember that the video is played before any decision, so dont think to create any story.

Best of luck
