Advice on giving birth
Ladies and Gents,
I am just wondering if there is anyone could help me to collect some details to make a decision upon dilemma - should I sent my wife home for giving birth?
My wife got RP and Health card. No medical/health insurance.
I need some info regarding below:
1. Which hospital should I approach?
2. What are the steps to book for giving birth in hospitals?
3. Any insurance companies provide maternity cover from day1 of policy?
4. Is there any maid/caretaker sort of women available for post delivery care of mom and baby (I am looking for a south indian woman - for the traditional post delivery care)? if yes, how can I reach them and average cost?
5. Will there be any customs problems at the airport if I bring some post delivery care ayurvedic medicines?
Hope someone out there with answers to my querries.
Thanks :)
Hi Lisha.shaikh
That was really helpful indeed.
Thanks
Hi ahnkwon,
Congratulations to both of u for the new baby who is to arrive!
I had visited Al rafa polyclinic in jaidah during my delivery! Dnt rembr the doctors name guess it was sunita or sumthing! Private hospitals r expensive like alahli, if u have medical insurance its definitely a blessing!
Al rafa is a little on the affordable side.
No medical insurance covers you from the first day for pregnancy. I think the policy must b running or active for 3-6 months minimum. so u have to plan about the insurance even before planning for the baby! :)
If u visit any private hospital they look after your delivery period for 6-7 months and then refer to HAMAD! al ahli is independent and if you can afford, it will take care of pregnancy and delivery as well. But have heard (not sure) that in emergencies, complications they too refer to HAMAD! like i said have heard it not sure!
single visit with blood chk ups and all will anywhere cost you 500 - 1000 rials in Al ahli while HAMAD does almost for free!
If u have health card its better you goto health centres for chkup and later for delivery to HAMAD
HAMAD doesnt allow male visitors or hubby inside the room with your wife. You need a female to assist her during delivery for help or any assistance! Call hamad and ask for details.
Ayurvedic medicines can be brought! but NO glass bottles!!!transfer or pack all in plastic bottles and carry in cardboard box. KEEP THE BILL WITH YOU. they might ask to open the box and show the bill! Once it is shown they will repack it and u cn bring. I had brought medicines ayurvedic myself but not for post delivery care it was other medicines! This is what I experienced!
and for lady help you have to advertise or bring someone from your native for care!
Hope my answers have helped!
congratulations once again! wish u and ur wife a happy and healthy baby! :)
Average Cost: 1300 - 1800....
There are people available for post delivery care for mom n baby. I assume, you're talking about massage facilities..You can contact me if required, since I know someone.. Also, Advt on Qatar Living is also an option, you will have people getting in touch with you.
You can also ask around in your community. You can definitely find someone.
thanks for the reply's above. my major concern is
4. Is there any maid/caretaker sort of women available for post delivery care of mom and baby (I am looking for a south indian woman - for the traditional post delivery care)? if yes, how can I reach them and average cost for such service?
I understand you have already got medical card for your wife. First you have to get a referral from Primary Health center from which you have already applied for cards. Then they will give you an appointment in Hamad women Hospital.Otherwise, you see a doctor from private sector and request a referral and got the Women hospital and present your letter and get an appointment. Regarding insurance, no idea. But in Hamad expenses are minimal. If you need more information, call Hamad Hospital general number. They will explain well.
are u looking for answers on how to give birth or how to get insurance
Your questions are confusing. Since you have sent your wife back to your country she should immediately register herself with any good gynecologist in your city. The doctor will advise her of all the steps including recommending a hospital where she could register herself for the delivery. Why do you want to bring Ayurvedic medicines to Qatar? This form of treatment is not recognized here and you may fall into problems at airport when you bring in Ayurvedic medicines.
