6,000 QR Traffic Penalty
In my two years here in Qatar, i think today is the worst day of all. I got caught by Police (Lekhwiya) when i drove into the island in-between roads in industrial area to avoid the terrible traffic near the round about. Bcoz i received a call from my wife that my 3-yr old son is having difficulty in breathing due to severe cough. She was in panick and did not know what to do. So i decided to cross this island to get home fast and bring my son to hospital. But all of a sudden this police came from the other side of the road and stopped me i was telling them i have emergency but they did not want to listen. To make the long story short, they told me to follow them in impounding unit and took my car (it's a company car) and impounded it untill i pay 6,000 QR. My boss said i have to solve it by myself and he will not help me.
Does anyone here knows if it's possible to appeal my case in the traffic dept bcoz 6,000 QR is too much for me. Some of my colleagues told me that if i know somebody from inside and appeal my case, or go to Gharafa traffic dept and talk to the sheik there, my fine will be reduced.. Is it true? Are they really considering especially if i have emergency? Pls i need ur valuable insights on this.. Thnx much.
Lesson is don't take the law in your hands!
Alhamdulillah...truly relieved to know your son is doing well, and may God bless him..Aameen!
I too hope your fine will be reduced. Certainly we are all human and prone to making mistakes,in some form or another. Just take the lessons from this whole trial. And Insha Allah you will not face such a huge calamity again. Have a nice day!
Palancole u r a genuine british. Similar to some of my friends way of thinking who r also british. Thnx man. Actually, i stopped commenting anymore here bcoz of some ridiculous and pretending people. U r one of those QLers and commenters here with a good level of thinking. Anyway, to update u all with my situation..im still trying to reach out with the police to reduce my fine. My son is fine now..Thank God and thank u to all who did show concern on me especially on my son. God bless u all.
Palancole, I'm sure you did not have a chance to read Op's and tigabaguio's some deleted comments.
finally...
the best comment on these thread..
@Roberr - I hope you get your fine reduced. I was just wondering how could some IDIOTS here see you could kill someone in a traffic. Theoretically all cars are moving slowly, right. You must have been driving at less than 20Km/Hr, right? You would be inching your car until you could get in the proper lane, right? So I am just wondering how you could be driving dangerously across the island. With their "What if" scenarios, Some Qlers made it like you actually killed someone. And someone thought your son had a fever instead of asthma. How stupid! He could not make the difference between the two! I fully understand your reaction as a father. I may have done the same if I were in your situation. But next time, just call 999. They are very fast. And for sure they would get someone to the hospital faster than you could.
QDCLoser, why don't you just shut it? Would you happier if the OP did not get his fine reduced or doubled instead? The guy was only asking if there was anyway he could reduce the fine which was too much for him. QAR6,000, that's over $1,500. Do you have such hefty fines in your country? I don't think so. In mine, I would be fined around GBP150 or may be GBP200 max to take back my car and lose 3 points on my licence. But definitely not more than GBP500.
Segmund, if Brit's English makes him a Third Grader, I suppose after reading your posts, yours makes you WORSE. You did not even understand the use of the " " sign which Brit used and you just barked at him. Poor guy was only quoting that the OP said. You confused Doha Knight with Dark Knight. Check your eyes, dear.
Whoa, that really sucks. Sorry to hear about your bad luck and hope the kid is OK. I guess this is a reminder that you need to respect the law at all times.
no no.. just nothing to say..
im not the OP..
what happened?
Finally how much you had to pay bhaiya?
How's your little one?
..the end..
thanks for all replies lol..
LMAO
People are so unreasonable here...
i second you mohdata...
well said.
my god..what has this thread decomposed into?..
and I like Brit even more after the way he handled Segmund..good on you buddy:-)
and for some reason, an increasing number of people here have now started picking on others' english usage. please guys, this is a cosmopolitan website where folks of all proficiency levels share their stuff. let's just be respectful towards each other. being a briton doesn't obligate one to speak perfect english. i personally don't use proper punctuation and stuff here because i'm lazy; what you going to do about that?. segmund makes fun of brit's english, yet his own is riddled with errors; forgivance isn't even a word, he asks for 'forgivance' and when brit says 'no problem' he thanks brit for his 'unsolicited forgivance'. leads me to believe he doesn't know the meaning of 'unsolicited'. which is exactly my point; if you picked on everyone's errors, you'd be here all day..rant over
Brit is not being cool, he is cool by his very nature.
hope this is over now. :))
hat's off to you Britexpat - for being so cool...
Never saw this much stoopid on QL :(
I am loving QL more, Met almost all kinda......
There is an air ambulance available in Qatar if the matter was really that seriuos...in no circumstances you should have gone offroad!!
exactly, i was about to say that after marriage changed, this generally happens and whatever happens is for good only,
Thank you for your unsolicited forgivance. Forgivance is mercy. And mercy, says Shakespeare, is nobility's true badge.
You are welcome.
Nothing can be proven right to others, if you can prove it right to yourself inside. I have never tried to bully or attack anyone ever since I remember myself. If I know something is wrong, I would say so, the heavens cant change me.
bach... Yes my dear friend that is how one should behave.
Brit... I am sorry again, it was surely my fault not to see it in proper light.
And now rohherr soft go pay that fine!
No problem!
You changed a lot, compared what u were 2 years back, earlier you were very aggressive
Well done sir, I would have done the same.
I really am hoping this would become the culture here and not to have the mentality of "I can do anything and get away with it because I have connections"
At the end, this might work for a while, but being genuine is a lifestyle
I agree with you--- completely. Let me give you another example, I was on duty a couple of months ago, and I came out of the hospital for dinner (since our canteen food is not really awesome), the moment I reached the restaurant, I received a beep, and I rushed because to the hospital. On my way back, I was caught by the camera for over speeding. The speed limit was 80 and I was at 92 (exactly as that). It was almosmt 11 30 at night and there was no traffic at all. I did not even realize I crossed the limit.
The next day metrash was swift enough to message me about 500 QR fine I had gotten. My colleagues asked me to get a paper signed by my head of department and the police would remit the fine (they do it normally in such cases).
I did not do so. It was because the violation was made not because I was doing my duty, but because I chose to come out for dinner. I quietly paid off the money without making any fuss about it.
Segmund the really last thing I care about is their opinions and I am ready for arguing. People take things personally and they don't realize that NO ONE should be above the law.
If this guy was rushing to rescue his son and GOD forbid he killed someone because he's speeding, then what would happen?
Many people here (and I am not talking about this guy) are really immature drivers. The signal is not an option when changing lanes for GOD's sake! There are non ending stories everyday on the roads and the problem is that these people are not learning because of the connections they use to help get rid of their points and because the insurance companies are not doubling their insurance upon renewals. Until this ends we will keep suffering unfortunately!
I thought you were the Doha Night. Sorry Dark Knight, I think I have made a terrible mistake. And I would try to live upto my word. I should not be making excuses saying that since I am on my iphone I could not read properly. It was a mistake, I made it, and I am to blame for it.
However, let us not digress from the real topic, lest rob her soft should come and accuse us of being real trolls. Let us agree on this one at least that a serious traffic violation was made, a fine is in order--- and that the violator must learn his lesson now.
Oh FFS how thick can you get Segmund.
BRITEXPAT COPIED THE OP'S COMMENTS ABOUT YOU, THAT IS ALL.
SINCE YOU ARE NOT SO GOOD AT READING, I AM TYPING THIS IN ALL CAPS.
Wait, wait. Did he post this? If he did, and you pointed out, and if you are not the author of these words, then indeed, it is my own personal fault and I take all the blame for it. Because, I do not have any intentions to be on any negative terms with you (your failing to write like a brit aside), and I must then apologize to you and seek your forgivance, which I am sure would be granted, as we are no foes. And even if you decide a punishment, I shall accept humbly and gracefully.
You said the right thing! Now be prepared for the most terrible gruelling by other members here for saying the right thing. Those of us who did this mistake of saying the right thing are still suffering.
I totally support you @Segmund on this. I mean I am sorry to hear about the guy's sick son and I hope he's feeling better but in my opinion what should have been done is that he should have called an ambulance which will definitely reach his house faster and they'll rescue the boy.
I am not trying to be mean but it is wrong to justify our mistakes to violate the law. I really am hoping that the police is always as strict and to have more policemen on the roads and roundabouts to facilitate and control the traffic as some people are really driving like crazy and risking our lives on daily basis.
You really are missing the point..
The following text (in quotes) was written by robherr soft (the OP) and NOT me ..
"I just think QDCloser & segmunk is one same person. Both of u trolls are saying that my son has a fever. Whoever told u that morons? U can go back to all my comments and my thread i will give a kiss on ur feet u geniuses if u will find a word "FEVER" there. Pls dont pretend that u r sensible when the truth of the matter is that u r STUPID TO THE BONE"
I was reminding him (robherr soft) that by such a post, he was being abusive towards yourself and QDCLover...
Do you now understand ?
Yes, but mind you, errors in understanding can invite the undeserved wrath of some members here.
We need to redefine respect here.
My own Arabic is worse than a third grade Arabic speaking child. It does not mean I do not respect myself. It is just an honest assessment of myself.
I really do not know why do you equate English with respect? If I had told him, that he is a Shakespeare, would that make him any more or less respectful, I do not think so.
He had a serious misunderstanding because of his linguistic deficit and I just pointed that out to him. What is really with you man?
English does not matter on this forum as long as we can communicate. Poor grammar does not attract a big fine, dangerous driving does!
Listen. Look at his post:
....Don't use abusive language - "I just think QDCloser & segmunk is one same person. Both of u trolls are saying that my son has a fever. Whoever told u that morons? U can go back to all my comments and my thread i will give a kiss on ur feet u geniuses if u will find a word "FEVER" there. Pls dont pretend that u r sensible when the truth of the matter is that u r STUPID TO THE BONE."....
The paragraph starts with a sentence that admonishes the readers against using abusive language. The next line entails the the most abusive and accusatory content the person can come up with. The same poison line is followed till the very end, with the same intensity.
The reason I told him that he does not know English is that he is not aware of even the basics of the language. Here unfortunately English is the only medium allowed on the forum and if someone does not know it well, it obviously can cause confusion.
The term 'your son' does not mean your real son. It is just a reference made extremely commonly in everyday language. Brit took it in literal meaning. Even someone with the most basic understanding of a language can get this easy concept. He, however, failed to do so. What else would I then tell him except that since there is a huge communication barrier that stands between the two of us, it is appropriate that we do not respond to each other.
Does that mean I do not respect him? What exactly is disrespectful in this?
It is ok for him to call people losers and imposters but it is not ok for me if I excuse myself from talking to him? What double standards are these?
May be I am. What do you want to do to me now, decree my execution?
tashin, sorry, I did not know we were in army. The junior and senior concept mentality does not look very beautiful in regular life. Everyone deserves the same care and respect as a human no matter how senior or how junior.
read carefully and re-read Britexpat's post.
He was defending you. He is of the same opnion.
You missed the part which is now deleted by the mods, where other poster said about you, what is now quoted in Britexpat's post.
I don't understand why you measure a personlity by english language skills.
Remember your post :
http://www.qatarliving.com/node/4851641
As for the OP, I had to narrate my own story. Had an emergency call and in the process got two tickets for overspeeding. Paid them as I realise I did mistake without giving any excuse or justification.
Read my LAST POST. You are in the wrong...
It is Dark Knight, not Doha Knight. Don't know about writing but you don't read too well.
I did not say that of you, or anyone else for that matter. Since you the knight Doha, I would not care about your English. However, someone who uses brit in their name, I think, may be I am wrong, needs to know how to write a few correct sentences.
Hmmmm now I need to hold a degree in English literature before I comment on a thread concerning traffic violations?
"POTs calling kettles black"...hehehehe
Anyways, hope the OP gets his issues sorted out quickly.
Please stop talking honestly and stop saying the right things. It appears it is a crime to do so here. :(
if you look carefully, I was responding to the OP and sticking up for you.
The post in quotes is actually what robherr soft had written I was reminding him of it...
With all the due respect to you, let me tell you something. I think it is the third time I have to say this. Since you call yourself a brit, and your English is worse than a third grader, I have no choice but to completely ignore your posts. That is precisely what I have been doing. I really respect you as far as they face that you are a human being, but believe mem I really do not care anything beyond that. What exactly are you talking about, why would I even give a damn whether you have a son or not, whether he has fever or not.
My response was only meant for the person who started this post. My response, now, is exactly the same as it was from the start.
I respect this person (although his nickname appears nauseating to me for some crazy reason), and I really feel sorry for him that he got such a big fine. I exactly said that in the start.
However, I said it and let me say it again, having a big fine does not mean your mistake was excusable. It is a most serious violation that earned him this fine.
If you just forget about your emotionalities for a bit and think with your head, can you give me your opinion on this one. A person is dying of hunger and he robs another's house. Does that mean the law should not try him as a thief? What a joke you guys do not understand this simple concept.
Even if this man has his son died, and even if he had been called by his wife to inform him of the tragic news, that is to come to the hospital and take the dead body of his 3 year old, a violation would still remain a violation. This violation meant risking himself and others to injury or death and it would mean exactly the same thing regardless of the frame of mind the voilation is carried out in.
Where do you think I have not respected anyone her? Do you think, I should bow before rob her soft or what? Come on guys what is wrong with you?
No wonder we have so many precious lives being lost to motor accidents. Everyonen thinks they had an important matter which was on their mind and that led to the accident.
I think all of you who support this man's heinous crime are youselves in possession of a ruthless mentality. For this reason, you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. In cold blood, you are condoning a serious violation of the law and, worse still, you are suggesting ways of trying to get away with it. Such a shame.
Why didn't you call an ambulance to take the child and your wife directly to hospital A&E? In such a severe/critical situation that would have been the best course of action as choking can be very dangerous and fatal very quickly.
Then you could have met them at the A&E where the child would have already been under the care of a doctor.
Brit are you back? PM me!
Don't use abusive language - "I just think QDCloser & segmunk is one same person. Both of u trolls are saying that my son has a fever. Whoever told u that morons? U can go back to all my comments and my thread i will give a kiss on ur feet u geniuses if u will find a word "FEVER" there. Pls dont pretend that u r sensible when the truth of the matter is that u r STUPID TO THE BONE."
Good Luck mate, hope you get some leniency from Lekhwiya, else it will be a lesson for you and reminder to all of us not to do any thing that is not safe!
Pls dont accuse or bash other QL members. Especially those who are just seeking help & advice. Right brit?
lets just play darts on Wednesday..
most British playin their are polite and very social..
just the beers and pins is enough to enjoy the night..
better to join them..
You beat me to it.
tigabaguio has sailed VERY close to the wind.
Take care!!
Well if you find an old man complaing about someone committing a crime wrong, then more fool you.
As for not killing someone, that's what they all say. I'm a good driver, I can handle speed, I can drive drunk, I can cross the red lights because of my driving skill. Yes you can get away with it a few times, but it onl takes once to kill someone. Then it's, why did I do that, I wish I could take it back.
Good for the ISF. Pay your fine in full like a man, not like a rat trying to escape his punishment.
noted..
Please don't insult or abuse other QL members ...
Anyways just so to update u guyz i have been speaking with the higher official there in traffic dept but they are saying that if Lakhwiyah caught us they cant do nothing. Instead go there in Lakhwiyah HQ and speak with their captain which i will do tomorrow.
It doesn't look nice to be short tempered for a person who is seeking some advice.
Finally what happened ?? and did u get back your vehicle ?? please update
guys just let it go..its obvious that a change of opinion is not going to happen on either side..so just let it go now shall we?..lets chill now all of us:-)
Just noting the situation and circumstances, one should not put others life in danger.
I would prefer to park my car on one side and cross the road and run myself if possible that could pacify the situation or take a cab or a lift.
So if someone kills your kid and asks for his 30 year sentence to be changed to 1 year as 30 years is too much you will be happy?
Qdclower, re read again and over again coz I don't think you did!!! He is not asking to not pay the fine or denying his mistake but asking for reducing fine god damit!!!!
I don't think potentially killing people or maiming them is an excuse for reckless behaviour. In fact it is very selfish.
That is all I have to say on this matter. It's boring now, he should just pay his fine, (or is his kid not worth 6000) and shut up.
I re-read it again and it was shortness of breath not fever, so what. You committed a crime and now should take your punishment. I'll say again those fines are high for a reason, Qatar has one of the highest death rates on the roads in the world and people like you contribute to it. If you do it again you should get jail time.
Everyone always has an excuse, I was late for work, my kid was ill, I was rushing home to break my fast, I didn't mean to hit that school bus but my boss called me and I had to answer... yani.
From a legal point of view you were wrong and penalised accordingly. You make take this up with the Captain at the Traffic Police Station to see if can give you benefit of this situation by reducing the fine!
lol yeah guys don't hate the land cruisers..its their drivers..the cars themselves, while not really my kind of car (i like my cars low and wide haha) are amazing vehicles which are among the best in the business..Land Cruisers also serve as the United Nations rescue/aid vehicles in some of the worst terrain/places/conditions on earth..they are shot at, blown up and what not..and they just keep going..read about this one car which had holes shot through its engine by heavy artillery but drove thousands miles more before dying..i actually imagine that land cruisers and nissan patrols have a personality and would say a lot if you just look at them closely lol..ok i'm being silly now:-)
salam and thank you sister for the blessings..and considering how much i look up to and admire your own participation on these forums, let me tell you i'm very chuffed about that compliment..have a great day:-)
LOL
we are always blaming LC for rash driving, who knows LC driver is driving rashly to save the life of his son, daughter, his wife or someone, that is Brits point
tahsinmim Agree with you, mercy only for locals, but there always good people and bad people so no harm in trying who knows the captain maybe would not reducing it but lift it.
once in Wakra commercial street, I did a uturn in the middle of the road by crossing the island, the police ( my bad luck ) was just behind me so he asked me to stop he insist of give me a fine with 6,000/-QR I spoke to him gently and asked him to solve it in easier way as much as he could, after some chat btw me and him went for around 15 minutes, he let me go ( my good luck ) without giving me any fine but asking me to not do it again.
Brit, whats the LC has to do with the subject?
You guys are assuming he cross it for playing with the traffic rules and cause himself n others an accident and maybe death. He wasn't driffting but crossing the island in a proper way so he could reach home asap to help his child not like young guys driffting and crossing island just for fun which yeah could cause death!!!! After all he never denied his mistake but asking for reducing fine as per his sad situation. you guys loves nothing but acting like angels when some1 does a mistake. Look for your mistakes and work on them before judge others No1 is perfect!!!
most wisest responses on this post were by Mohdata. May Allah increase you with wisdom my brother and bless you..Aameen!
Robherr I to am a parent just like you. I have been married for eight years, and Allah has blessed me with one child. My daughter, InnalHamdulillah. She is more precious to me than my life, make no mistake. However I teach her, and myself too in the process, to always love God above anyone and anything else. God has commanded us to always follow what is good and just, and to want for another what we want for ourselves. Hence we must always think about our fellow human beings when dealing with any of life's trials and tribulations.
Your son would not love that ten years from now he finds out that his dad was responsible for the death and/or destruction of another, simply because he was trying to save his life.
And never think that by doing what's just and lawful that you will face loss and pain. Rather good comes to those who do good by others.
Be patient and mindful even in times of trouble, for haste can truly bring on waste!
And do not think that I am one who simply preaches what I don't follow. I cannot begin to even tell you the many times I have faced calamities and still insisted that myself, my husband and those around me follow the laws, even though it may seem at that time difficult to do so. And I swear to you, never have I then ever faced anything worse by doing what's right, rather my burdens were lightened in ways I couldn't imagine.
Anyways I pray Allah cures your boy, and that your fine is reduced greatly. And I hope you learn from this never to make the same mistake again. Thus truly a blessing will come out of this test of yours.
Take care.
I just think QDCloser & segmunk is one same person. Both of u trolls are saying that my son has a fever. Whoever told u that morons? U can go back to all my comments and my thread i will give a kiss on ur feet u geniuses if u will find a word "FEVER" there. Pls dont pretend that u r sensible when the truth of the matter is that u r STUPID TO THE BONE. U r always bashing me and my thread but u r always out of the topic and stating some things which r not even coming from me. U r loosing ur credibility. I know u r just holding grudges on me bcoz of the previous comments i made on u. But this is nt the perfect time to get back on me man.
I just don't Understand, These Particular Things are happening everyday on the Roads of Qatar, If anyone has the Guts, then next time Try to Report a LC who is driving against the Traffic Rules...
I bet NO one would do that!
sorry triple post..
sorry double post..
QDCLover,
I wonder if you would comment the same if these was posted by your countrymen.
Let me share you this..
"A father who killed two men who raped and killed hes daughter was not guilty in court for man slaughter."
I'm not saying that the issue is the same but just to tell you that in a life and death concerning kids a father can do things to the extremes..
So will just for the captain's verdict shall we?
I got special permission from traffic police, they once banged my car, in return I asked them to give me this favor...
Yes you only do it at roundabouts as you know there are no cameras. You are a murderer waiting to happen. Hope you are proud of yourself.
anyone going fast is for sure in emergency, When i have to reach to Al Naimi before it close, i drive fast - horn, flash lights.. and some time go on red signals(in roundabouts only)
Next time don't blame an LC for speeding... He might be going home on an emergency..
Oh the melodrama..
I do not know why most of the people are not getting this simple point.
Is the dead life of someone else's child on the road worth less than your son who has a fever? Be honest you care more about the fine that you will have trouble paying. Learn the lesson, don't do it again.
Next time, Call 999
I know it is a tricky situation in here; however, why do you guys forget that the fever the child has would not kill him (inshallah the kid will be fine soon) but the dead body of the fater arriving at home would surely cripple him.
Segmund let me know when ( if and inshallah not ) your kid go through the same when your stuck in a traffic what would you do by then!!! Always put urself in the same situation before judging!!
Let me correct you, not most of us do that bro. Only those who have the audacity to risk their own life and that of others.
Not everyone is emotionally strong! and even in worse situations can calm down, and think properly, OP did, what mostly parents do in these situations! that doesn't mean that he should be punished 6000 QR for that, and for sure no one jump directly to other side of the road without looking to the coming traffic!
as for the OP, for sure there is always a proper way, People present inside those departments are not that cruel, that they won't listen or help you, Just visit to traffic department, and request them, go thru some reference, hope you will find someone of your nationality, let them listen to your story, and Insha Allah if they can't completely forgive, they will help somehow and reduce your fine!
Best of Luck!
Mohtada, good one
ARE PARENTS AS WELL...and drives a car in QATAR.
You were emotional and in panic when you did what you did...we get that. We are just saying the "WHAT IF"...so, don't be antagonistic towards those who does not agree with you.
Everyone empathize with what you're going through right now. WE hope your son gets well soon.
hey buddy..sorry about your son hope he is better soon inshallah..
and i'd just like to say..i appreciate your sentiments and dying for your son is ok but killing others is not unless they are trying to kill your son god forbid..sure you didn't really mean that but yeah..
and you know, i feel when god puts you through these trials and losses, its actually a blessing in the sense that a much bigger misfortune is averted for you..like maybe god spares you illness, death or other more profound pain..its just a small thing i feel..the non religious folk will laugh when they read that but yeah there you go..so if you do have to pay the 6k, just think of it as a penance/trade off for god forbid something much worse..best of luck..
and if ever your kid is ill again, be sensible and call 999..those guys will be there faster than you could ever be and will know what to do much better than you:-)
Im glad your son is alright robherr and good luck with the Traffic Dept...
robherr, I understand, what you are going through as of now, Ignore what some of the "Qlers" are saying, They tend to Bark...
But then the best for you is to take the Hospital Records with you to the Captain, & I am sure HE would help you out...
Its not the first time something like this has happened, I can tell you ample of stories in which Fines were Reduced by the Traffic Dept...
Yes I agree with you robherr soft. But you should have prepared yourself for the consequences of your actions.
I believe that no one can REDUCE the amount of your fine because the LAW is not only applicable to you but for everybody. It means it is the duty of the officers who apprehended you to protect and keep the general public safe and not to one person alone (your son).
Just echoing what zouheir & mohdata said in their last comments. Also what ingeniero first sentence in his 2nd to the last comment. Thnx much people for that.
I dont know if some people here does not know how to read or their heads are just empty. My thread is clear and simple to understand. Im in a big hole right now and other's negative comments are last of my list to mind about.
Translator thnx for ur sensible comments and tonyhanna about the proof of my child condition? He is now in Pediatric care in Hamad Hospital. I hope these people here who wants to cut my throat for my actions are happy that my son is ill. And u know what...im willing to die for my son and to kill for my son. I hope u get the message. I dont care what u say about my violation i did not do that like what some of here wants to imply i am not that stupid. in my two years here my driving record is clean include also my 20 yrs of driving in my home country. I am just asking for HELP not to get away but just to REDUCE. I dont know if these people have children but what i know is that my son has asthma and severe cough and he could not breath which the doctor said can lead to death but my son fought through it while i was away. Im praying to God that this experience will not happen to you all.
head to qdc and down a chilled one buddy
The large fines act as a deterrent to selfish reckless drivers. So don't come on here crying its too much when you commit a serious crime. If his wife was killed on the road due to someone driving as dangerously as he was I'm sure he would be asking for the highest punishment.
The leniency he gets is only paying the 6000 QR fine. The next time he does it he should be spending time in jail.
yeah right..like self righteous folks like QDCL haven't ever taken a call while driving..no need to kick a guy when he's down..sure, he broke the law..murderers appeal for their death sentences to be commuted to life in prison; he wants his fine to be reduced..i don't think he said he wants to not pay at all or that he was justified in his actions..and the OP has very poorly described what exactly he was doing when the police saw him, so let's not assume
Everyone talking here as all of them are unerring each one of us did a mistake and will always do. The op wasn't denying his mistake but asking for some mercy reducing the fine which too much for him infact he didn't cross the island on purpose he just wanted to help his kid. Its not a crime and each one of you would do the same if you were in his same situation. no one is infallible. making mistakes is a part of human nature,, Everybody in this world is capable of making mistakes.
it will sure served him lessons as well - not to panicked and go against the odds. meantime, what he needs at the moment is someone who can help him.
BritExpat, He did mistake, But that's already done now..
The discussion centres around doing soething wrong. Having the misfortune to get caught and then trying to escape punishment.
Why everyone is accusing OP? :(
Do you guys really think that he just went thru island with even looking to other sides?
Robbher soft, btw next time if something happen like this, just on double signals, and start pressing horns, go between two lanes, some people here are sensible and they give way... worked for me once, when wanted to take my friend to hospital, no one gonna stop you, Police won't even stop you..
tahsinmim, Center median - the space between two roads
QDCLover, you are barking up the wrong tree, on this topic as well
Translator, that is fine but the facts are he committed a serious violation and could have caused am accident that lead to the death of others. By obeying the rules he would be maybe arrive 5 or 10 mins later, is that really justification for such a serious violation? He is not a medical doctor and he would not have been able to improve his son condition if he arrived a few minutes earlier.
Must agree with the others on the helping part. People here complain about the dangerous driving and especially complain about the qataris. A man commits a very serious violation and they want him to get off. What sort of example does that set.
I am just extremely surprised how mean people can be in the name of law. In legal business, there are terms such as "first time offender" and "three strikes and you are out" and "released on parole" and "reduced sentence" and more.
I have no doubt that the officer looking into this case will check if this driver have a clean record or any history of violation.
Have mercy to those on earth, you will get mercy from whose in the heavens
Got to agree. You do the crime; You do the time...
Again an example of funny people here.. Everyone outrages over bad driving here and then everyone jumps in to help someone who is clearly violating traffic rules.. Hundreds of people on the roads will have one emergency or the other every single day, everyone should start violating the most basic rules?
Pfft..
do u have proof of ur child condition? I had once an emergency issue, documented from Al-Ahli and it worked
I understand that you panicked after knowing that your child is having having medical issues.
But have you ever thought of the consequences of what you did? Crossing over the road island (separating the roads) to go back the other way IS DANGEROUS...not only for yourself but for the other motorist coming the other way.
Vehicles using that road drives so fast that they may not be able to stop in time AND THAT WOULD BE A MAJOR ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. You have placed yourself and others in grave danger.
That is the reason why they took your car...
I hope you will be able to solve that fine issue...
Alls fine but what is drving into the island in between roads.:)
He didnt beat the red light you moron..read it again.
I'm still shocked this man wants to get away with his crime. By jumping a red light he could have killed someone but that's ok because he only cares about his kid. Stop, supporting a criminal, there are enough on the roads. The big fines are their for a reason, his kids life is not worth more than your kids life
We humans are such emotional things. I am really surprised that everybody here in this post is trying to help the guy how to get away with his fine. Even I did so in my earlier post. None of us however reminded him of the grave mistake he committed which endagered his own life and that of others at the same time.
6000 Riyals is a big amount but the life of the person is bigger. I know that it would be a big burden on anyone. But getting killed is even a bigger burden. We should all remember that it is not about the fines, it is about taking extreme care on the road so that we do not endanger our own life, that of our family and loved ones and others as well.
ahamedsmarty thnx for the inputs..
If the lakhwiyah as taken your car to yard in the corner of the Industrial Area, you can never get the help of anyone at any other police in Qatar. Lakhwiya doesnt favour the Qataris either.. So best is, go to the Lakhwiya HQ in Al Waab on Sunday morning at about 10AM(thats when the captain comes) and tell him your situation. He might understand and do something..
Blank stare
so you broke the law and now want to avoid paying the fine :(
Translator thanx so much for ur willingness to help. Person like u and other sensible people here are strong proof that QL is really a place for people with good heart.
Everyone is ready to help a spoiled child :)
I wouldn't mind translating your complaint letter,
The authorities here are gentlemen in uniform. They know how to listen, but unfortunately your reason did not satisfy them and the law.
Tell the authorities the TRUTH and they will surely re-consider. Believe me.
But if you have already spoken the TRUTH, then what they have also spoken is the TRUTH.
Sorry to hear of such unfortunate events.
ZUHAIR, you GOT hit on ur BACK ha ??? :XD
QDClover is right but anyway now what happened just did so let him try to reduce the fine and for the next time I'm sure it won't be repeated lol he won't go through the same situation feeling burning with the 6000 fine :P
Once indian guy hit me in the back when I was waiting on a traffic light, the police came and asked me what happened so I explain it, the officer wanted to tell him that u hit him in the back while the car was not moving but was talkin in arabic the indian was saying yes its my fault sir, the officer was saying how u saying not ur fault ( but in arabic again ) for 2 times repeated lol
Thnx LOL.XD & Zouheir... U dont know how much help you are doing for me.. I really appreciate it. May all of you who are sensible and concerned enough showered by blessing of our Mighty Allah.
you r ryt Zohair. I Donno why do they Hire those Who Dont know English.
i know its Arab Country but most of the Pplz on roads are from other countries.
Which is also good, but u know if he could spoke to them from the first place in arabic? They wouldn't fine him, I've seen many cases even one of many times I was a reason for giving the chance for some1 to not be fined just because the officer doesn't speak english and all he was saying ull get fine driver replies why sir please lol so I had to come to the counter n explain the driver's situation
Zohair but sometimes in Madinath Khalifa dont want to talk so the way i Suggested to him is the same as u said but with diffrent way.
The Man i suggest he have good affair with the High Officers.
You can solve it by yourself, if you really got a msg from your wife then you can talk to the captain there and explain the situation which definitely should reduce it and if you could convince them then it will go down to 500 just show the time of the fine and of the msg u received from your wife explain the situation in a perfect way. I suggest you to take someone who speak arabic fluently. I'm sure alkhwiya couldn't get what you are talking about so you thought they didn't want to listen unfortunately they don't speak english.
I Replied you back there man.
Well tomorrow they are open but donno about the Captain,
but try to meet the one i Suggest you.
he is a good man,
So you think by bad driving and maybe killing someone makes your plight alright? I'm sorry, I feel for your son and his condition but putting the lives of others in danger is wrong.
LOL.XD pls check ur inbox regarding my message :(
dohalife thnx so much..are they open tomorrow? Is the captain available also tomorrow?
Go to Madhina Khalifa murroor and meet the captian, he can only help you keep your family with u, saw him your baby tell the truth.
If you are true Allah will be always there with U,
Enigma where will i go and talk with the captain? Thnx
I feel sorry for you dude but I am happy to see that the police here are so swift to take action in the line of duty. If I were you, I would write the above post in the form of an application and make its wording stronger and have it translate it into Arabic and then go to the police station and talk to the people and give them my application for remittal of the fine.
that's really sad buddy..but atl least im glad these two guys above have offered to help..best of luck and hope god solves this for you inshallah..and please update the thread with what happens next..it may be of great help to others who god forbid may find themselves in a similar situation..again, best of luck
