Hi, I have been offered a job in Qatar 18,600 pm and free accommodation. Is this a decent salary? Can I have a comfy life with it? I'm single and don't have kids... May be in Qatar soon! Thank you for your help!!!

Ant 288, whoever say that westerners think of them as superiors ...must not know the quality of life we build from scratch in west and the hard work we 've done to became a civilized individual. Ask any westerner dis they came out after 5 in Qatar ...only to there own places secluded places within there own community...Why?

Because here there is no standard and quality of life ...you just concentrate of making money which when u convert will be pennies, ...ur mobile bill with international call would be no less then 450 including wifi.

food is worst quality except u eat in downtown Doha in a 4 star hotel.

traffic you have to forget any rules u 've learned in ur life back home.....other expenses are equal to what you pay with tax back home convert here as actual price. No tax .

So join the club there is always two faces of a coin.

Thanks everyone! I'm a westerner I am not greedy and not planning to live like a rich - this won't allow me anyway. I'm not a new graduate have got 5 yrs experience in management. But just wanted to know whether I can eat out, travel abroad and have money to pay mobile bills, etc. wouldn't go alone :( to a country to be worse off. Thank you!

convert the offer from your hometown average salary and compare.. if its multiply more by two its ok since you are single. knowing you don't need to budget the expensive rent here at Qatar. Cheers!

In which trade are you? It also depends on your career.

It is common rate for easterner and considered a very cheap rate for westerner (unless you are fresh graduate from western country).

By this amount, you can live here prosperously (as they provide you accommodation).

If you are a westerner you will not be happy as westerners consider themselves to be super-class human beings and don't live on the ground; but if you are an easterner you will be more than happy with much savings. It all depends on which side of the fence you are sitting.
