During the third phase of the gradual lifting of COVID-19 restrictions, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) had announced that it will restart the issuance of family and tourist entry visas as of July 12, 2021.

The Ministry explained that it is now accepting family and tourism visa applications via its Metrash2 application, including those traveling from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and the Philippines.

MoI explained that travelers coming to the State of Qatar through its land, sea and air ports will be subject to the requirements and procedures set by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) regarding approved vaccination and quarantine procedures to limit the spread of the coronavirus in Qatar.

Moreover, MoPH has updated its list of countries based on the categorization of COVID-19 risk.

Travelers who have been fully vaccinated and have received any of the COVID-19 vaccines recognised by MoPH will be allowed entry upon arrival. This would also require the traveler to take its last dose 14 days prior to traveling to Qatar.

Citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council who have been diagnosed and recovered from COVID-19 infection during the last 12 months in any GCC country and have received a single dose of vaccine are exempt from quarantine after 14 days.

After vaccination or recovery, these exemptions are valid for up to 12 months.

When arriving from a green-listed country, unvaccinated children aged 0 to 11 who are traveling with fully vaccinated parents will be exempted from the quarantine.

When arriving from a yellow-listed country, unvaccinated children aged 0 to 11 who are traveling with fully vaccinated parents will be exempted from the quarantine.

There is no exception for unvaccinated children traveling to Qatar from red listed countries.

All visitors will be required to obtain travel approval and pre-register on the Ehteraz application prior to travel.

Family visit visa online application process

  • Download the Ministry's Metrash2 application and log in

In order to log in to the application, you will be required to have a valid QID and phone number which is linked to your QID.

  • Tap on the “Visa” icon

  • Tap on the “Issue Visa” icon

  • Tap on the “Family Visit” icon

  • Select “Family Visa Application”

  • Select “New Application”

  • Fill in the information of the traveler

  • Select “Validate”

  • Upload necessary images and scans of relevant documents

During this step, make sure that all images and documents uploaded are clear and readable. Both the photo page and the bio page of your passport should be on the same side when uploading images. You will need to combine both the photos or scans to create on JPG file.

Similarly, both the front and back of your Qatar ID should be on the same side of the JPG file when uploading it.

A birth certificate is frequently requested to establish your relation with the traveler. If you do not have this, any document that can prove your relationship with the traveler will suffice.

  •  You will now be required to wait for an update within 3 to 7 working days

It's possible that you'll be contacted about missing or mismatched documents before your visa is accepted.

After making the necessary adjustments, the applicant will be given an application number and instructed on how to proceed with the fee payment after the application has been validated and approved.

  • Pay for the family visa fee online

After the visa has been approved and paid for via the Metrash2 application, the applicant will be able to download a copy of the visa and share it with the traveler.

Visas are 200 QAR per person for a 30-day period and 50 QAR for each registered dependant or partner.

Immediate family (spouse and children), first degree relatives (parents and siblings), second degree family (grandparents/children, aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, and half-siblings), and in-laws can all have their visas extended for another 5 months.

Please note that you can also apply for the family visa via the MoI's website.

You can find also find the latest updates on Qatar's travel and return policy via MoPH's website.
