Allies Ready For Teodoro’s Cebu Sorties’
A SERIES of rallies in Cebu this week for Gilberto Teodoro Jr. will give his local leaders a chance to organize a “show of force” for the Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential candidate.
This, after officials of One Cebu Party, of which the governor is chairperson, assured that the group remains strong amid talks of possible defections to the Nacionalista Party (NP).
Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, after a closed-door meeting last Friday afternoon, said they discussed updates on the mayors’ preparations for the visit on April 27 and 28.
One Cebu spokesman Rory Jon Sepulveda earlier said they are relying on the conscience of party members to back Teodoro.
“We don’t support para makawadat ug kwarta (in order to get funds). We don’t operate in that manner,” he said.
Also last Friday, the governor refused to entertain questions about reported defections and family squabbles.
She was initially asked about Dumanjug Mayor Cesar Baricuatro’s statement that around 30 mayors in Cebu will support Villar.
“Kapoy kaayo magsige ta’g react anang mga pasiatab. Kon mao na, wala nako’y laing trabaho mahimo kung di magsige’g react og pasiatab (I’m through with always having to react to all these talks. I have other things to do rather than react to all these talks),” Garcia said.
Teodoro remains in fourth place in the surveys, both in the nationwide and Visayas results.
