Practical Lab: Sound Mixing
In collaboration with La Fémis, the Institut Francais Qatar, the French Embassy in Doha, FNAC and Fifty One East.
In this workshop, participants will learn the importance of sound mixing. This programme covers the working methodologies used in a professional environment and will give trainees the tools and knowledge to appreciate all the artistic details that arise when making a film soundtrack.
Summary:
This workshop is a six-day programme for six sound editors.
Over the course of the lab, participants will learn to tell a story through a film’s soundtrack.
The workshop will begin by introducing the work of a re-recorder, with a firm grounding of all the technical aspects of the job.
Trainees will then work in pairs on three different sequences of 2-3 minutes each, experiencing all the steps of the sound mixing in a practical environment.
The final day will consist of an analysis of the three mixed sequences with a possibility to finalise the mix according to the tutor’s feedback.
