This sounds encouraging! Thanks for your help, all. Where is the furniture souk? The problem I'd have with that is getting it transported as I'm not in Doha- but I guess I'd have the same problem if the stuff was shipped.. duh:)

Yes they do through Aramex.

Call the Ikea Festival City store in DXB and ask for the rates.

Also, I think you must physically go to the store, to do it this way.

When I was in Abu Dhabi a while ago, I saw a family from Kuwait do the same thing...so Ikea Abu Dhabi must do the same.

As for Ikea coming here...many rumours. I always hear Al Waab City development mooted as a possible location, but no evidence this has developed past wishful thinking!

Go to the furniture souks cheaper and better than the cardboard stuff sold by those stores at the Valaggio, Hyatt, Landmark, and Centre Point and City Centre.

Ikea stuff is not much better.

I've been told by a few people that IKEA in Dubai will ship stuff over. I was planning to go over there soon and get some stuff that I can't get here.

Mate im not sure about that, but what I do know is that when I drove to Oman last week, we bought heaps of stuff from Ikea and loaded the car.

I assume that when Ikea opens up in Doha (and thats if they do), that will be the last of Home Centre and Homes r us.
