Only For Ladies

I wasn't sure where to post this.

Have any of you tried body sugaring? Can you recommend a place that will be gentle to beginners? Not too painful, not too judgmental, not too expensive..

Is there any lady who can come to my home for waxing ????

Alumnar

Hi Pavlina,

sure! Make sure to ring and book yourself an appointment. Coming from Ramada signal turn left at the Toys R Us Traffic Light. Go down that road and the Spa is on the left hand side. Contact number is 44318488.

You'll enjoy it. Hope to meet you there :)

Chelsea on [email protected] she will send you one.... probably better to do it that way, cause then you have at least the next few days to get some sponsors, instead of just Thursday when I give it to you.

She is a bit snowed under at the moment, so if she hasn't responded by Thursday, just remind me and I will get you one:-)

Hi nomerci,

they thread upper lip at QAR 15, Chin at QAR 15, Full Face at QAR 90 and Eyebrows at QAR 20.

I wax and never got one single ingrown hair. And on top of it they are getting less and weaker - advantage of not shaving but removing by the root.

Hmmm, i always do threading....no problem at all. waxing, NO thank you...ingrowns, itching...yikes!

Good thing different people like different things! :)

Now, I am going out on a limb here, do they do threading at Diva? If so , how much is it?

Xena, that is the kind of massage I normally go for too. I really try not to fall asleep as it is soooooo relaxing! For some weird reason I hate having my belly/stomach touched.

of having a back, neck and shoulder massage by one of the girls at Diva - I did it on the spur of the moment... right before I was going to work...

It was soo good, I battled to keep my eyes open at the office... I was soooo relaxed...

If I remember, and I stand open to correction, the Back, Neck and Shoulders was 20mn (I generally don't like massages so short ones are good for me) and it costs about 60QR.

Hello Diane,

yes I do know ad I also have my massages there. The 2 Thai ladies (sisters) who do it are both excellent.

Prices: QAR 250 for an hour of Thai Massage, QAR 300 for 90 minutes. The Revitalizing and Swedish massages are the same price.

I cringe when I think of my (only) threading episode... Yikes!!! :(

So Diva Spa, I take it that they do massages as well? So would love to find a place with good reputation and not too pricey either. Do you know roughly how much to expect to pay in Qatar for a massage?

Re Threading, I had that done in Egypt, not by choice (I thought I had booked eyebrows wax), it was so painfulllllllll, and it was done by a man and he chose to do my upper lip, below the nose - I am cringing at the memory of the pain!!!

I went through the threading process once and almost killed the guy. I went in for a shave and dozed off on the chair. Before I knew it, the guy was threading some facial hair and i was like eeowwww wtf???

Veet cream?? No no. This lady used the Veet strips on my underarms and ended up applying them in exactly the same spot over and over and over again. When she was done I had red marks in perfect rectangles, the shape of the strips which didn't go away for a few days! And I STILL had to shave. And I don't even have all that much hair there.

By Alumnar• 29 Aug 2010 20:14
Alumnar

I can't stand threading! The first time I did it I ended up with bruised eyelids and people kept asking me what had happened. Unfortunately I pluck them myself slowly and carefully. Oh well!

I tried waxing in Glow before I found Diva Spa. The lady took 45 minutes to do half leg waxing and never stopped talking! Never again!

Sugaring is much more painful and time consuming then waxing. If you reacted to Veet the way you did you are either allergic to it or something went wrong.

I would not recommend sugaring, I had it done once in the UAE and swore to never do it again. It is also more difficult to remove the hair then with wax. No wax strips are used with sugaring - they keep rolling an amount of the sugar mix in their hands and roll it over and over your skin until your hair is removed. With waxing - one strip and done.

Arsh: I don't know the method. That's why I'm asking. Also, don't know where to get it. I figured I would try to find a salon to have it done and then decide if it's worth learning to do it at home.

Xena: I understand that it's going to hurt. But a colleague's wife offered to do it for me and she used the Veet strips. Ended up removing more skin than hair (if such thing is possible) and I spent the next couple of days peeling my skin and still had to shave. I figured maybe she did it wrong, or maybe I'm just to delicate?

Body sugaring is a method for removing body hair that is a cheap, homemade alternative to waxing (or shaving). The theory behind body sugaring is that the hair is removed by the root, and when it grows back there will be less of it, and it will be softer and not stubbly as it is if a razor had been used.

Body sugaring is done by making a paste of sugar, water, and lemon juice that has been heated to the softball candy stage.

http://www.care2.com/greenliving/ancient-egyptian-body-sugaring.html#
