Have any of you tried body sugaring? Can you recommend a place that will be gentle to beginners? Not too painful, not too judgmental, not too expensive..
sure! Make sure to ring and book yourself an appointment. Coming from Ramada signal turn left at the Toys R Us Traffic Light. Go down that road and the Spa is on the left hand side. Contact number is 44318488.
Chelsea on [email protected] she will send you one.... probably better to do it that way, cause then you have at least the next few days to get some sponsors, instead of just Thursday when I give it to you.
She is a bit snowed under at the moment, so if she hasn't responded by Thursday, just remind me and I will get you one:-)
Xena, that is the kind of massage I normally go for too. I really try not to fall asleep as it is soooooo relaxing! For some weird reason I hate having my belly/stomach touched.
of having a back, neck and shoulder massage by one of the girls at Diva - I did it on the spur of the moment... right before I was going to work...
It was soo good, I battled to keep my eyes open at the office... I was soooo relaxed...
If I remember, and I stand open to correction, the Back, Neck and Shoulders was 20mn (I generally don't like massages so short ones are good for me) and it costs about 60QR.
Alumnar and xena, i hate to read all comments specially if i've missed out the beginning part and thus i missed out to read that the OP has already told about using VEET strips...:))
So Diva Spa, I take it that they do massages as well? So would love to find a place with good reputation and not too pricey either. Do you know roughly how much to expect to pay in Qatar for a massage?
Re Threading, I had that done in Egypt, not by choice (I thought I had booked eyebrows wax), it was so painfulllllllll, and it was done by a man and he chose to do my upper lip, below the nose - I am cringing at the memory of the pain!!!
Edifis, Spas don't allow cats as customers! But I sure would like to see your Tongue stuck to the sugarwax!!! Now off you go, be a good boy and leave us ladies to it ok? Thank you.
But I am worried about the salon keepers coz she is very sensitive....just like me! The slightest pain may cause her to throw tantrums.... and she may bite and scratch and throw hard punches!
tinker: I think the yellowish paste is some sort of bleach. A friend of mine told me that removing facial hair is haram, so ladies bleach the eyebrows...
I went through the threading process once and almost killed the guy. I went in for a shave and dozed off on the chair. Before I knew it, the guy was threading some facial hair and i was like eeowwww wtf???
Veet cream?? No no. This lady used the Veet strips on my underarms and ended up applying them in exactly the same spot over and over and over again. When she was done I had red marks in perfect rectangles, the shape of the strips which didn't go away for a few days! And I STILL had to shave. And I don't even have all that much hair there.
I can't stand threading! The first time I did it I ended up with bruised eyelids and people kept asking me what had happened. Unfortunately I pluck them myself slowly and carefully. Oh well!
I tried waxing in Glow before I found Diva Spa. The lady took 45 minutes to do half leg waxing and never stopped talking! Never again!
Xena I'm the same when it comes to pain. I actually walked out of the place with half a 'sugared' leg crying my eyes out! I love Diva Spa, they really care and the Manageress is wonderful (British, yes).
When you come from Ramada Junction towards Toys R Us turn left at that traffic light where Toys R Us is. Then keep going down that road and you will find it on the left hand side.
The best waxing I ever had in my life is done at Diva Beauty Spa. It takes 5 minutes for half leg - fast, painless and cheap too compared to other places.
Sugaring is much more painful and time consuming then waxing. If you reacted to Veet the way you did you are either allergic to it or something went wrong.
I would not recommend sugaring, I had it done once in the UAE and swore to never do it again. It is also more difficult to remove the hair then with wax. No wax strips are used with sugaring - they keep rolling an amount of the sugar mix in their hands and roll it over and over your skin until your hair is removed. With waxing - one strip and done.
Arsh: I don't know the method. That's why I'm asking. Also, don't know where to get it. I figured I would try to find a salon to have it done and then decide if it's worth learning to do it at home.
Xena: I understand that it's going to hurt. But a colleague's wife offered to do it for me and she used the Veet strips. Ended up removing more skin than hair (if such thing is possible) and I spent the next couple of days peeling my skin and still had to shave. I figured maybe she did it wrong, or maybe I'm just to delicate?
it doesn't sound any different to waxing.... when you look at the texture of the wax used in Salon's here, I see a grainey look to it.... think it might already be in use in most places:-)
Body sugaring is a method for removing body hair that is a cheap, homemade alternative to waxing (or shaving). The theory behind body sugaring is that the hair is removed by the root, and when it grows back there will be less of it, and it will be softer and not stubbly as it is if a razor had been used.
Body sugaring is done by making a paste of sugar, water, and lemon juice that has been heated to the softball candy stage.

Is there any lady who can come to my home for waxing ????
Hi Pavlina,
sure! Make sure to ring and book yourself an appointment. Coming from Ramada signal turn left at the Toys R Us Traffic Light. Go down that road and the Spa is on the left hand side. Contact number is 44318488.
You'll enjoy it. Hope to meet you there :)
I quit waxing years ago. btw where is this spa? May I join you??
Sorry, double post.
Ok Xena, thanks, I'll email Chelsea tonight :)
Chelsea on [email protected] she will send you one.... probably better to do it that way, cause then you have at least the next few days to get some sponsors, instead of just Thursday when I give it to you.
She is a bit snowed under at the moment, so if she hasn't responded by Thursday, just remind me and I will get you one:-)
thanks girls!
Yep, am booked in for 10,30 a.m. so will see you there :)
Can you bring a sponsorship form with you for Friday? I need an easy dog to walk - my back and spine can't take any pulling force :) thank you :))))
Looking forward to my treatments... did you manage to book Alumnar?
Keep an eye on promotions / packages / new treatments coming up in the near future girls... Diva is definitely improving under the new Manageress ;)
I happened to pick up the latest price list when I was there last week ;)
I don't have my menu card with me, so was trying to remember as best I could.
Hi nomerci,
they thread upper lip at QAR 15, Chin at QAR 15, Full Face at QAR 90 and Eyebrows at QAR 20.
I wax and never got one single ingrown hair. And on top of it they are getting less and weaker - advantage of not shaving but removing by the root.
I think it was about QR45:-)
Hmmm, i always do threading....no problem at all. waxing, NO thank you...ingrowns, itching...yikes!
Good thing different people like different things! :)
Now, I am going out on a limb here, do they do threading at Diva? If so , how much is it?
thanks Alumnar, will definately give it a try - the massage that is:)
Xena, that is the kind of massage I normally go for too. I really try not to fall asleep as it is soooooo relaxing! For some weird reason I hate having my belly/stomach touched.

Oh la la, really?? oh, let me check again...:)
You did soniya... lol ! ;)
The phone number and directions are further up in this topic.
Did i miss out to read where DIVA is?? :))
I haven't heard the name too..
Alumnar and xena, i hate to read all comments specially if i've missed out the beginning part and thus i missed out to read that the OP has already told about using VEET strips...:))
Will give Diva a try now. Thanks Alumnar.
Nothing like trying bnb :)
never heard of Diva till now...will give a try someday..
That is the only upside of it :-(
Lucky you Colt ;)
not if you're working in the aviation industry ;-)
Expensive massage (flight cost PLUS 40 Riyals for massage)!!!
Bangkok, here I come (QAR 40 for a 60 mins body massage) ;-P
Hello Diane,
yes I do know ad I also have my massages there. The 2 Thai ladies (sisters) who do it are both excellent.
Prices: QAR 250 for an hour of Thai Massage, QAR 300 for 90 minutes. The Revitalizing and Swedish massages are the same price.
I cringe when I think of my (only) threading episode... Yikes!!! :(
So Diva Spa, I take it that they do massages as well? So would love to find a place with good reputation and not too pricey either. Do you know roughly how much to expect to pay in Qatar for a massage?

No wonder the OP can't bear pain! That's expected as she is Epicurean!
I am definitely not a Cat! For your info I am a male Proboscis monkey and I am highly allergic to cats!
Edifis, Spas don't allow cats as customers! But I sure would like to see your Tongue stuck to the sugarwax!!! Now off you go, be a good boy and leave us ladies to it ok? Thank you.
Don't worry I won't enter your salon
I can't bear so much pain. So no sugar for me. I rather stay like gorilla!
My GF will like me more that way.
But I am worried about the salon keepers coz she is very sensitive....just like me! The slightest pain may cause her to throw tantrums.... and she may bite and scratch and throw hard punches!
Would be great to have some quality ladies' time at Diva Spa with you girls :)
Edifis... get OUT! Be respectful towards the OP please.
Tinker, just tell me if it will work on my female gorilla GF?
Anytime epicurean :)
Sounds Yummy! I want to lick the sugary coating!
Will this sugar work on a female gorilla?
will be coming to Qatar on the 4th of September. I hope you can wait.
Yummy! I want to lick the sugar coating.
I know a Kaamvaali who does it gently to beginners. You can get her at:
Plot no.62, house no.143,
Next to Raghuleela Mall,
Near to Cinemax Theatre,
Opposite to D-Mall,
Above Shoppers Stop,
WADALA,
Mumbai. INDIA
SHAMA??? No idea what that is.
tinker: I think the yellowish paste is some sort of bleach. A friend of mine told me that removing facial hair is haram, so ladies bleach the eyebrows...
its really painful afterwards... with waxing by day 2 you don't feel anything:-)
Pauncho?
Errrm... NO lol!
The shape comes out perfect, tinkerbell :)
does that come with a happy ending? LOL... j/k ;))
Alumnar: I may just send you a PM following Eid. I'm not sure I'm strong enough to go through this during Ramadan and not think evil thoughts!
With waxing shaping is much easier.... I have no idea how they keep a steady hand with threading...
Nice to know you appreciate the pains we go through Pauncho! Good on you. When shall I book your waxing session? Full body? ;)
Depending on how much they need to clean up... you are looking at literally 3 - 5 minutes and the process is complete...
Usually 2 strips of wax on each eye and your are done:-)
Yes tinkerbell, waxing. Quick and the pain is much less then threading.
you have no idea how lucky you are to be a man.... ;-P
But its as they say... "its painful to be beautiful"
Ouch epicurean! That sounds painful. Maybe you are too sensitive under your arms for waxing?
Send me a pm if you would like me to meet you at Diva to give you some support :)
I went through the threading process once and almost killed the guy. I went in for a shave and dozed off on the chair. Before I knew it, the guy was threading some facial hair and i was like eeowwww wtf???
I feel your pain ladies ;-)
This is one time, the second being birth ;-)
LOL Pauncho! That's true, you guys don't know how lucky you are and how much you save!

I tried waxing in Glow before I found Diva Spa. The lady took 45 minutes to do half leg waxing and never stopped talking! Never again!
this is one of the times it's so reassuring to be MALE ;)
I used Veet cream once under my arms... it burned me so badly I had huge sores. Was sooo painful.
Azi, I used to thread too, until the girl ripped half my skin from my eyebrow.... never again... that and that ripping sound really gets to me....
Soniya, the OP tried Veet. Please read her post at the beginning of this topic.
Doing it at home is never as painless as in a Spa. The beauticians the right techniques to do it quickly and with minimum pain.
Soniya: as I posted earlier, I tried the Veet strips and it ended up removing skin and leaving the hair.
Saba, the instructions on how to get to Diva Spa are above in one of my previous posts.
Try VEET wax strips at home..It's not much expensive and you can do it on your own..
check the video on youtube, and you will get the instructions from there..
can u please gime me number n location details?? i will be grateful...i meant for diva beauty saloon
I do Xena - Chrissy is one of my sponsors for your dog walking event on the 3rd! Let me know when you go next and we can meet there for a chit chat :)
I have my eyebrows threaded 2x a month...but waxing? Thank GOD...
remember her and her girls were at the QAWS event at Garvey's? They are really supportive:-)
Confirmed.... stay away from Sugar:-)
Xena I'm the same when it comes to pain. I actually walked out of the place with half a 'sugared' leg crying my eyes out! I love Diva Spa, they really care and the Manageress is wonderful (British, yes).
I swear by Ailyn as a therapist... she is awesome... I dind't even feel the leg or arm wax:-)... She did my brows beautifully:-)
Thanks for the heads up about sugar... I am such a baby when it comes to pain... will stay far away from sugar and stay with waxing, thanks;-)
oooops, wrong thread
i know the topic is "only for ladies"
i thought it will talk about "discovering the secrets" of this creature "woman".
and i didn't think it will talk about "sugaring"
sorry girls , am out
Wow! Thank you again!
Anytime epicurean :) Here is their contact number (44318488).
Thanks Alumnar, for both the directions and for putting the guys in their place. I was thinking the same thing!
Guys, read the topic - FOR LADIES ONLY! Thank you!
When you come from Ramada Junction towards Toys R Us turn left at that traffic light where Toys R Us is. Then keep going down that road and you will find it on the left hand side.
Diva? That's on Al-Nasr Street, isn't it?
go to lakme

Sounds painful already......
ohhhhhhhh watz that??? hearin first time..
I think so. Although I've seen it where the halawa is in a pliable lump that is applied and removed at the same time...
What's that?
is that like waxing epicurean?
