Sorry for late response, but for the benefit of others.I disagree, d5100 is not the big brother of d90. d3_00 and d5_000 series are all entry level. Yes, d5100 has fancy feautures but d90's are more on "semi-pro" features.D7000's features are almost the same as d90 but cheaper. Better to invest on lens. There will be always a new body every 2-3 years, but the lens will hold its value for a long time. Amateurs always go on the new one, thinking latest gear will give them better result. If there's no problem with your budget then there's no question go for the big brother d7000 or better d3x :P, if not, go for d90, you will not outgrow it that fast.By the way, I know some people who bought d3100 and d5000 then they sold it after they realized "I need more" and upgraded to d90 or d7000.For my personal preferences, the only thing I wanted from d5100 is the improved swivel screen from its predecessor, wish d90 or d7000 has that feature in case of tough angle shot.

but d5100 is the big brother of d5000 and d90.. and the small brother of d7000.. it is somewhere in the middle so maybe it is just ok for me/?

if i were you i'll go for D7000... because sooner or later, you'll gonna be addicted to photography and that your camera doesn't have the features that the high-ends has...

you have to begin with zero.. then one.. two.. three.. and pro!

begin with manual, lot of instructional videos from youtube and daily motion and practice, practice, practice... goodluck!

there is a user manual that can help you with D7000. it does not make difference with other cameras. Go for it!

I am a Sony DSLR man, and have no desire to shift brand. Remember the Alpha range were originally Minolta until Sony bought the technology from them and enhanced it. As I was a Minolta 35mm SLR user, this was a natural choice for me. And to my knowledge Sony make sensors for most other brands of DSLRs as well.

I was talking about DSC-H7 as mentioned above. It is not a DSLR.

Sony Aplha series are good, no doubt.

I started in photography with Nikon D50.. then last year i bought Canon EOS 550D and its good. i have the 50mm and 18-300 lens and its superb!

for beginners i suggest Nikon D3100 or Canon EOS 500D that costs only 3000QR more or less depending on the kit lens that is usually 18-55mm.

you can check on any carrefore branches, salam and even in lulu.. this Ramadan try to shop maybe they have great sale/ offers for this..

d7000 is a lot better than d5100, available in carrefour or in salam stores in westbay. price is around 6800 riyals (including kit lens 18-105mm)
