MANGO in City Center full of thieves

qatar_qatari
By qatar_qatari

Beware if you are going to MANGO Shop in City Center, and if you happen to forget your mobile phone or any other expensive item in the fitting room; the Filipino women, the employees working there, won´t lose their time in stealing anything they find on their way; it happened to me today 22 August, 2 hours ago (9pm) in City Center. I went to buy a blouse, but I tried other clothing so I left my mobile down for a while, when I was trying the clothing on. At the time of paying for the new blouse, I realized I left the mobile inside the fitting room, and when I told the filipino women to check the rooms, SURPRISE!, the mobile was not there anymore. In 1 MINUTE!, it dissapeared!, ha ha ha!. So since I´m a European woman who knows how to fight for her own rights, I told the security guard, even the employees, to better find my mobile if the didn´t want me to call the police. The one they TRIED to stole was a European Mobile, but what they didnt know is that I had another mobile from my company with me, because I´m working HERE, he he :), so after asking the kind thieve from MANGO about the police number, and after she refused to give it to me, OF COURSE, I called a friend of mine, who was luckly at City Center also, so he came directly to Mango, we argued with the Security Guard, we insisted in no leaving the shop till they find the mobile, and warning to call the police again, and SUDDENLY, OH-LA-LÁ, the mobile appeared!, ha ha ha, Obviously the woman who took it felt scared and she decided to give it back to me; after arguing, and shouting at them, and calling INEPT to the security guard, who did NOTHING to help. Finally I got my mobile back and I told the employees I would never come back to that shop full of thieves & incompetent people!. The Lebanese lady runing the shop told me the mobile was mixed with the garments. HA, SURE!. It was one of her employees who took it, because at the beggining, she double checked "THE GARMENTS" and the rest of the clothing, and OH!, it wasnt there!´, but HEY!, they finally found it!, yes, guys!, it was "mixed with the garments", HA HA HA!. What a nuch of shameless people. I double checked all the fitting rooms, and it wasn´t there. Anyway, and finally and thanks to my persistence and my very good friend who fought with me there, there was a HAPPY ENDING :). And you heard that the Middle East was a safe place where nobody tried to steal anything. This confirms that is only bull-s-h-i-t. BE WARNED!

this europeani... is just another rubbish racist!

what if she is the sales lady or owns a shop and a europeani or qatari woman stole an item from her shop???

Will she rant over this here in QL??????????????? of course not!!!! what an idiot!

some europeanis and qataris steal as well, esp that they think they wont be punished as they are far more superior than other nationalities here in ME.

stealing is also a sickness! its like their hands are itching to take/grab something they badly want. and it can exist to any human being, any race..!!!

and one who is trying to get all the Filipinas upset (which she has succeeded at).

Qatar is generally very safe from things like this but crime can happen anywhere. Filipinas are no more inclined to be thieves than any other nationality. Being forgetful of your belongings for a minute doesn't give anyone a license to steal.

And bo-Jassim was being sarcastic so don't fly off the handle and tell him to shut up. I liked his response ;)

I recently did something crazy, I crazy-glue five pesos into the cement sidewalk.

The next morning, I walk down to check the five pesos, for my own surprise, the PERSONS, ALL HAVE SLANTED EYES, they dug up the cement around the five pesos. They got the five pesos, but what they don't know the five pesos was defaced by me in the back, to expose the raw metal which makes it better adhesive to the cement.

Madam European Lady!

I find all your narration sarcastic and disgusting, for-

(1) Unless proven you can not blame someone innocent (yes unless proven one is innocent) as thief; disgusting because you used nationality over name of individuals.

(2) Your entire narration is full of some hollow pride, you meant here that if you are a European you have right, courage and special privilege to threaten/ fight/ spread hatred against communities/other nationalities.

(3) What right do you have to term individuals as Filipino or Lebanese and naming them as thieves??

(4) A sheer negligence and not caring for your own belongings and instead you feeling sorry for yourself you are blaming others????? That’s what I find it all sarcastic and disgusting!!!

(5) What if someone say bad about a European, how will you feel now????, by the way which Europe you belong to east or west???

(6) Instead calling names you should have called police and let them decide who’s the real culprit of creating scene – a careless lady or the staff at work ????

I'm not sure I agree with the sentiment that "all's well that ends well." I had a similar incident with a pair of sunglasses. It took a very unpleasant confrontation with the manager, security and the repeated mention of police before my sunglasses were "found" in the wastebasket. This idea that a momentarily unprotected item is fair game for theft just isn't in my book of ethics and I resent being told it is all my fault for being so careless. My actions do NOT condone your criminal behavior any more than wearing revealing clothes means a woman consents to harassment or rape.

- Don't leave your phone unattended in Mango, however it is also important to note that you may leave your phone unattended in any other shops except Mango.

-and of prime importance to add here is that all women MUST be European because European women know how to fight for her own rights!

She posted/ranted here on QL which is a public forum...of course people here will comment/opinion of the subject matter.

What do you expect to get here...sympathy and a quorum that Qatar is an unsafe place?

FYI...jasminehjasmine, another QLer here lost her (signature) bag with all her stuff in it, you know ...ID's, credit card, wallet and personal effects in Landmark. Someone returned her bag..everything in it.

So...a European brand mobile getting lost in a small shop such as MANGO and telling people this and that nationality is this and that...you'll definitely getting a mixed reaction here.

Why give this poor girl a hard time? She accidentally mislaid her mobile, remembered it a minute later and had to put up a ridiculous amount of fuss cause of bad employees. Yes it happens elsewhere, yes she made a mistake, yes in some countries she would be killed for it and a bag of rice. But . . . she's here, a rich country with a low crime rate and she is giving us a reminder about being careful. Thanx qatar_qatari. Im new and appreciate the warning. Glad you got your phone back :)

shouldn't your mobile be inside your bag? I noticed most of people here (local or not) are not careful with their belongings. Even in food courts, they leave their bags/phones on the table & go take their orders. For me, that's irresponsible considering that this is a public place. In our country we do mind our own things (unless you're really sick of robbing people). However, maybe Azi has a point if she sound defensive as your tone of story is very subjective to a certain nationality & generalizing the issue to a single incident. Of course, we understand your rant over the matter, but shouldn't you consider also what you post?

On the brighter side, good thing you have found it.

There's a lot of angle to see in this scenario and before you go haywire on me...we need to know that European brand if its worth stealing or be coveted of.

You see, salesladies in shops are not even allowed to have anything in their pockets, much less a cellphone coz its distracts them from their work. That's the protocol here...

If you're talking about MANGO in City Centre, I think there are other nationalities working there as well, aside from the Filipino women that you mentioned. So, pinpointing one nationality not being trustworthy WITHOUT PROOF is considered as LIBEL and MORAL DEFAMATION which is subject to the law, you even be jailed for that. I'm sure, the laws here in Qatar are the same where you came from?

It's not that I'm defending my own race (me being a Filipina)but my race are partial to a particular brand or two that are well known back home. I myself got 7 cellphones myself: 2 Sony Ericsson hidden in my bedside drawers, 3 Nokias that are company phonesand 2 LG phones for my personal use and to think I'm just an office employee...not earning that much :)

Another thing, fitting rooms are the busiest part of the shop where ever you go. Most especially nowadays (Ramadan and summer) wherein majority of shoppers do their shoppings at night when the weather is less humid and store hours are longer.

And based from experience, most women that uses the fitting room just dumps the clothes they tried on in a pile on the floor or to the nearest rack/basket. And the sales ladies/store clerks picks up those piles and dumps them to the basket for sorting and refolding when the shops closes.

Your mobile might have dropped amongst the pile of clothes you tried on

So you see, unless you had your mobile dusted for fingerprinting...you could never pinpoint anyone in that store as a thief.

If you got proof/evidence...the culprit will go behind bars and gets deported.

My opinion...

You are right; it was my mistake for forgetting the mobile on the fitting room, but don´t justify their behaviour. That is called stealing in my country. BESIDES, it is ironic how the employees working in these shops, even the security guards, are normally looking at everybody entering a shop, as suspicious people, as if they were to steal something, when in this case it has been right the OPPOSITE situation!, :), the people working there are the ones stealing!. I just wanted to share my experience, to avoid anybody else go through the same.

I did it; even the Lebanese lady did it also with her mobile phone, but we couldn't hear anything because of the noise, there was some kind of music band on the floor below, in City Center, and a lot of people inside the shop, so it would have been a miracle if I had been able to hear the ringing!
