Georgia, although I do feel sorry for you as being followed is not nice, I do think you may have exaggerated your story somewhat. No sane woman/girl would tolerate being followed for that long, not unless she wanted this attention.

You talked to the man a few times and even shouted at him, but he continued following you. So now you think it's better to post on QL, so he reads it and gets the message?

Seriously, I thought you kids had more sense than that these days, but hell, I could be wrong on that one :-(

Sorry your logic is flawed.

The guy would not get deported because of you he would get deported because of his behaviour.

If he has done it once he has done it many many times.

Also he most likely knows the consequences of his actions here in Qatar.

So if someone does this - its their choice. Next time (and there will be) just go straight to the security office in the food court and or the police.

Hello Georgia

Sorry for the trouble caused by the moron who followed u, similar thing has occured to my wife also here in City centre which i immediately took care by calling the police and theidiot was taken to custody, after that i was being called to the police station for complaint and the person was deported he was asian national. so when such sex maniac trouble u again the best thing to do is to call the police and let them handle, no need to be humble and think abt thier family while doing it should be him who has to think before doing such an moron act

There is a police office at Gate 3 of Villagio (where the gondolas are). You may wish to go there if you have problems again.

The police in Qatar do not tolerate harassment by strangers. If it happens to anyone they should call 999. Alternatively they can ask security to call the police.

No woman should tolerate such behaviour any where in Qatar. They need to send a clear message to such men by calling the police.

Just my thought,

Why would you not inform security

What if he kidnapped you, then who would know?

he followed you in the shopping mall?

he followed you in his car?

Sorry, Strange

I would have suggested you take your mum with you next time ;)

But be aware that everyone knows that harassing women is crossing a line and any expat who does that KNOWS he can lose his livelihood. They deserve no sympathy in my opinion.

expat people have more compassion when they are young and the OP is a really young girl..

I can understand why someone who doesn't even live in Doha doesn't want to get the authorities here involved..

By georgia_• 26 Oct 2010 00:04
georgia_

of course i care if he would of got deported because of me, mainly because this man probably has a wife and children to look after, who am i to ruin everything for him over something petty?

By ex.ex.expat• 25 Oct 2010 23:54
ex.ex.expat

and makes you feel threatened, why would you care if they get deported? That kind of behaviour is not acceptable and everyone knows that so someone flouting teh law is not your concern.

By ex.ex.expat• 25 Oct 2010 23:52
ex.ex.expat

if you lose any common sense you may ever have had. Why on earth would you allow someone to follow you and make remarks to you for 5-6 hours? Would you accept that back home?

and the OP (and her companions) just let it for 5-6 hours...that must've been excruciatingly freakish. (uuugh)

I seldom go to Villagio but I know they have security people around.

I'm biting my tongue now...but next time (i hope not), though he's arab looking or not...a stalker is a stalker is a stalker...wherever you may be at/in.

By georgia_• 25 Oct 2010 23:51
georgia_

oh no, i spoke to him a few times, but he either couldn't understand a word i said or he pretended not to. i even shouted at him.

and i would never get the police involved again. i did once after an incident in CC cinema, and the guy almost ended up getting deported over it. so i don't really see that as an option anymore.

Unfortunately there are people with syndromic mental retardation who are hankering for such actions. By the way, why didn't you call 999 for help or make a scene right there?

Talk about DELAYED REACTION.

Within 30 minutes of him following you...you could have approached a security guard or DID SOMETHING.

You waited all those time till now to react AND POST on QL...wheew!!

My thoughts...

By Oryx• 25 Oct 2010 23:38
Oryx

Why did you put up with that for more than ten minutes?

He is a retard but you allowed him to be a retard.

Why didn't you say that to him not to us?

Take a picture with your mobile - if that doesn't work..

Then get security - if that doesn't work....

Then get the police.

Khallas no reason for a long drama.
