How does Qtel post-pay subscriptions work?

I was using Hala cards until a month ago or so when I switched to the Post Pay account. I opted to pay the full year's subscription in advance.

I had assumed that the subscription came with some minutes or SMSs or something, but apparently the "subscription" is only for the privilege of using the phone - is this correct?

I guess I'm locked into the subscription for the next year, but I'm wondering if it was actually worth it. . .my "current charges were all of 35QR this month, so I didn't exactly save a ton of money on a per minute basis.

Oh well. . .anyway, if someone can answer the subscription question that would be great.

Cheers,

lol... right expat.. that's what i am doing.. i used to spend about QR100 a month for the pre-paid cards.. now, since i pay about qr65 only for 'subscription', it's not worth to pay just another QR35 for the calls..LOL..

You are so right. . .the "plans" are much different here. I guess I need to talk more just to make it worth having the post-paid :o)

yes, I pay about QR65 only for "the privilege of using the phone" as you say..and for the convenience of not running out of credit every other day... and then on top of that QR5 for the certain ring tone, and only after that for the minutes used and SMS sent... I end up with about 200-230 a month, when I am in the country.. i pay about 1000 when i am travelling and therefore roaming...my hubby pays about QR1500 a month within the country only...:)

...here is QATAR, not north America, dear...

in Canada you can basically talk endlessly for C$100 (about QR350)...
