How to convert U.S. BBQ to Qatar propanetanks
OK - I have photos! The green hose is the one supplied to me by the "Gas Guy". The gray regulator with the brass fitting is the one he supplied to me. The gray regulator that is attached to the black hose and has the black knob is the one that is currently attached to my grill.
So. . .
How do I hook up the "new" regulator to my grill? Do I just cut the existing black hose and push it onto the new regulator fitting? Do I need to completely remove the black hose from the grill and (somehow) fit the grill with the green hose and regulator instead? What keeps the green hose from popping off of the new regulator - is it low enough pressure that we won't need to worry about it?
Any expertise out there? (Or, better yet, anyone willing to tackle this for me?
Thanks so much,
ES
I had the maintenance workers come over and unscrew the hose from the BBQ with the hopes of somehow making the new green hose work with it.
They told me that the existing hose has been machined to the hex assembly and it wouldn't be safe to just cut it off and clamp it on.
Still hoping for someone who knows exactly how to convert this fool thing. . .if you know of anyone please let me know.
thanks,
ES
It looks like we actually need to remove the existing hose by unscrewing a very tight hex assembly. . .it's getting more and more complicated and I think I would rather have someone do it for us.
Has anyone here ever paid someone to do it for them? If so, who did you use? A phone number or other contact would be most helpful as well.

ok.... here are the things u must have before making all these work...
1: hose clamp, 2pcs
2: flat/philipp screw driver
3: sharp cutter
PROCEDURE:
1: Condemn the pre-existing hose and regulator assembly from your grill by --- cutting off the black hose on the BBQ grill fitting, take note: it is the opposite end of your pre-installed hose of the regulator(with black knob, aluminum color) assembly. Keep this assembly, you might use this upon return to USA.
2: Prepare the BBQ inlet fitting clean and free.
3: Insert the green hose(image 1) with hose clamp in each end. Fix the other end of the green hose on the BBQ inlet fitting and tighten with screw driver. On the other end, do the same to insert on the gray colored regulator(painted) fitting and tighten again with screw.
4: Attached the grey colored regulator to the propane tank outlet.
5. Prepare a dishwashing liquid mix with little water, 50:50 ratio.
6: Slightly open the grey regulator control valve.
7: Turn on the BBQ grill flame.
8: dripped the dishwashing liquid mix around both clamped hose ends and check bubbles for leakages.
9: if it doesnt flame, pour petrol over and lit a light...
10: dont follow step no. 9... only up to no 8 are all true.
GOOD LUCK...

into the black hose. There should be a small hose clamp that will go on the back hose to keep it from poping off. The pressure is only about 15 PSI, but you dont want the hose coming off as the gas will keep coming out... Once you are done, turn on the gas and spray the hose and regulator with soapy water to check for any leaks, if you see bubbles you have a leak. You will need to reclamp the hose.
If you are not comfortable doing this, call the gas guy and see if he will do it....
