Are there any other divers on the board? I'm wondering where people shop to purchase their gear. Yeah, I know there are dive shops in Doha, but I have been told the prices are a bit high. Is it cheaper to order from a European online dealer, even with shipping? If so, where might I go? Cheers!
Dive gear in doha is expensive but you still remember that Diving is expensive hobby hehehe.
Here some tips:
- Dolphin
I got all my basic gears in a cheap way
- Pearl Diver
You can buy Mares, Dacor, Henderson gears but price are high
- Marine World
You can but the expensive Scuba Pro
- Speed Marine
They have BCD but not that popular
Note: If you are in Doha for a while I suggest you must buy the one available in the market, as my experience I use Sherwood BCD and I got slight problem with the Dump valve the problem is they cannot replace as they don't have spare parts so what they did, they covert/slice up some rubber from Dacor brand to put in my Sherwood but still not satisfied I have to try this Friday if the fix is good or not lolz.

Yeah, I was kind of thinking the same thing. The DSAC has a page, and there is a 'for sale' link, but I tried to open the link and couldn't. So it goes. I'm kind of assuming the same thing too-- lots of expats means you can do word-of-mouth advertising and selling.
Hey there! Do the dive shops or clubs sell quality used gear? I would think with all the expats coming and going, there should be a pretty good market for 2nd hand gear.
Yeah, 'cause when I was in Japan, I just bought from Japanese shops online.
There's one place I know of, Scuba Store (http://www.scubastore.com), which is based in Spain. You can select your country and see the appropriate currency amounts. Qatar shows up in Euros.
I know, too, that Scuba Toys (http://www.scubatoys.com) sells and ships internationally at discount rates, as they made a deal with UPS. ST is a great shop, and I've dealt with them a few times in the States.
And, of course, just going to google.co.uk and searching for "scuba diving equipment shops" brought up a bunch of results as well.
Qatar's winter months are brimming with unmissable experiences, from the AFC Asian Cup 2023 to the World Aquatics Championships Doha 2024 and a variety of outdoor adventures and cultural delights.
