Cheap Pubs in Doha
By DohaDiesel •
I will be moving to Doha shortly. From being there couple of weeks ago can see its quite expensive. Until I have license to buy booze at the shoppe, can anyone suggest a decent pub that has decently priced beer ?
To All:
Many thanks for your replies. I will only be out to socialise over a few cold ones. (Nothing worse than sitting bored in hotel rooms !!!)
Yeah, Singapore has its selction but over the years the quality of places has been going down hill. The expats including myself are leaving in droves just now with many saying due to the expense here. My local pub is probably the cheapest on Orchard Road with Pint of Tiger at 30 QRS Equivelant and Guiness at 40 QRS Equivelant. (And I am not talking about Muddy's)
Tall, thanks for the hint on the Rugby Club, where can I find it ? Have been hearing about a place called the Harp from a mate, is it any good ?
Do any of you know of any good parties at a pub or club for New Years Eve ?
Cheapest bar in Doha is the Rugby Club. Beers at your sort of price!
there is no beer for 20-25 QR in Doha. The cheapest one is around 35 QR. And I don't think your license will help you, unless your goal is just to get drunk...you go to the bars not only for beer, but rather to socialize...
and hey, that's good that they still have ANY beer, even for 35-40 QR... even that can get banned one day...
i just came from Thailand... beer there 9-12 QR, man..
Qrs. 50 for a beer is NOT the norm in Singapore, the average price is more like half that around Qrs. 25,fancy places will cost more, like anywhere else in the world...try Ice Cold beer on Emrald Hill & that's just one place,i could go on with a long list but you get my point...& yes a beer here will set you back Qrs. 20-30 depending on the place so you should be ok,don't expect to be spoilt for choice like you were in Singapore though...the are about 5 bars in this town,ok 10 but that's it...having been used to the choice on Clarke Quay/Boat Quay, you're in for a bit of a shock...you've been warned!!...
Something around the 20-25QRS mark a beer is what I am looking at. Cheaper if possible.
I have been in Singapore for the past few years, believe me expensive here is not the word. (Try 50 QRS for a bottle of beer in some clubs)
No cheap pubs, there is a large tax on all alcohol. It is, after all, an Islamic country.
